Judge T.S. Ellis III, who is in the news for presiding over the Paul Manafort trial, is also known by court insiders and watchers to be somewhat salty in the courtroom and will frequently “scold” attorneys arguing before him.

And he’s not above calling out members of the media as well, apparently.

Here’s Rachel Weiner of the Washington Post who got on Judge Ellis’ bad side when she, in her own words, “stupidly” joked with him in a back-and-forth while he was bashing the press for caring more about Manafort than the opioid crisis:
