Tom Arnold posted this photo with former Trump lawyer MIchael Cohen on Thursday and as you’d expect, it quickly went viral:

In an interview with NBC News on Friday morning, Arnold hyped the photo and insinuated that he met with Cohen as part of his Vice show, “The Hunt for Trump Tapes,” where the comedian searches for tapes that might prove embarrassing to the president:

Arnold told NBC News early Friday that Cohen ― who is under investigation by federal prosecutors ― talked to him about the show, which is expected to air later this year.

“We’ve been on the other side of the table and now we’re on the same side,” said Arnold, an outspoken Trump critic.

“It’s on! I hope he [Trump] sees the picture of me and Michael Cohen and it haunts his dreams.”

Arnold would not say whether Cohen was planning to give him any tapes he might have of conversations with Trump.

But he added, “This dude has all the tapes — this dude has everything.”

“I say to Michael, ‘Guess what? We’re taking Trump down together, and he’s so tired he’s like, ‘OK,’ and his wife is like, ‘OK, f*** Trump,'” Arnold said, laughing.

Let’s recap here. Arnold says, “We’re on the same side.” Then Arnold tells NBC News that Michael Cohen and his wife both answer “OK” when Arnold says, “We’re taking down Trump together.” It’s crystal clear. Arnold told NBC News that he and Cohen, with Cohen’s wife’s blessing, are taking down Trump. “F*** Trump,” even.

But later in the day today, Arnold backtracked and apologized:

And Arnold later posted the image a second time with another apology:

Which Cohen thanked him for:

But we have a question for Vice: This is supposed to be a legitimate news show, right? And this is the crap you’re putting up with?
