Popular conservative Chuck Nellis was permanently banned by Twitter over the weekend, although it’s not clear why:
6 years, 737,000 Tweets, 142,000 followers & Twitter just KILLED @ChuckNellis account with NO REASON. I hate this crap, WHAT FREE SPEECH???
— NEW Chuck Nellis (@ChuckNellisJail) June 18, 2017
Nellis was suspended last month for doxxing, but his account was restored after he deleted the offending tweet. According to Nellis, he appealed the permanent ban 3 times with no response from Twitter:
3 times, yes. No response why. Just closed.

Point of note: I was suspended for doxxing for 12 hours then, this has nothing to do with that.

Twitter said they WILL NOT RESTORE it. 🙁 🙁 🙁

Now this is where it gets interesting. Senator Ted Cruz jumped in, tweeting that “Twitter is not the speech police” and suggesting that Nellis was banned because of his political views:
This is absurd. Twitter is not the speech police. If they insist on censoring speech to promote left-wing views, that's a real problem. https://t.co/zhjVgqk1j5
— Ted Cruz (@tedcruz) June 18, 2017
Cruz retweeted this one as well:
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
RT THIS, EVERYONE!
Twitter KILLED @ChuckNellis account,
PLEASE FOLLOW @ChuckNellisJail!! pic.twitter.com/Ln2Lhi63zs— NEW Chuck Nellis (@ChuckNellisJail) June 18, 2017
Now, we get that Twitter is a private company and it can do whatever it wants, but shouldn’t there be a little more transparency? With Senator Cruz now involved, maybe Twitter will finally have to answer why Nellis was banned and we’ll get to see what’s up.
