President Trump is up and tweeting over his firing of FBI Director James Comey, and it’s — as the kids say — lit (do kids say that?)
First up, here’s the president saying Dems will eventually thank him for giving Comey the boot:
The Democrats have said some of the worst things about James Comey, including the fact that he should be fired, but now they play so sad!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 10, 2017
James Comey will be replaced by someone who will do a far better job, bringing back the spirit and prestige of the FBI.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 10, 2017
Comey lost the confidence of almost everyone in Washington, Republican and Democrat alike. When things calm down, they will be thanking me!

And later in the morning he directed his ire at Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), rehashing an old attack from Blumenthal’s 2010 Senate run when he was caught exaggerating his service in the Marines. Blumenthal was in the Reserve and never went to Vietnam:
Watching Senator Richard Blumenthal speak of Comey is a joke. "Richie" devised one of the greatest military frauds in U.S. history. For….

years, as a pol in Connecticut, Blumenthal would talk of his great bravery and conquests in Vietnam – except he was never there. When….

caught, he cried like a baby and begged for forgiveness…and now he is judge & jury. He should be the one who is investigated for his acts.

It looks like Trump was responding to Blumenthal’s cable-news hits this morning. On MSNBC:
.@SenBlumenthal explains his call for an independent special prosecutor to investigate Russia ties #morningjoe https://t.co/8njBQfwff4
— Morning Joe (@Morning_Joe) May 10, 2017
And on CNN:
Sen. Richard Blumenthal: "What we have now is really a looming constitutional crisis that is deadly serious." https://t.co/o4QERWlDFM
— CNN (@CNN) May 10, 2017
And now he just fact-checked CNN on Roger Stone:
The Roger Stone report on @CNN is false – Fake News. Have not spoken to Roger in a long time – had nothing to do with my decision.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) May 10, 2017
Stone, however, denied he’s been talking to reporters:
Ex-Trump aide Roger Stone has been telling reporters he advised Trump to fire FBI director Comey.
Trump says false. Hasn't talked to Stone. https://t.co/0azPpHMLXO
