Wow, even we’re amazed at how fast the race card got played on this one.

Earlier this morning — at 3:40 a.m. to be exact — the Washington Post’s Dave Weigel posted this photo of his TV, joking that MSNBC contributor Anand Giridharadas looked like a character on the 1997 sci-fi film, “The Fifth Element“:


Giridharadas, however, wasn’t amused and accused Weigel of racism:

Then Giridharadas told on Weigel to his boss, Marty Baron, executive editor of the Post:

Oh, it’s on. Weigel then asked for an apology of his own and accused the gravity-defying-coiffed Giridharadas of libel:

Which led to this charge of “white privilege,” because of course it does:

As for Weigel, his biggest sin might be that he used the wrong movie reference:
