Of course President Obama can make a nomination. And there’s nothing in the Constitution that says the Senate has to act on it. Why do they leave that part out?

It gets funnier. The White House called a “photo op” to show how much work Obama will do this weekend vetting possible replacements for Justice Scalia:

Well, at least he’s doing his homework as he ditches the Scalia funeral.

Josh Earnest defended the decision to send Joe Biden instead, telling reporters the vice president’s  “security footprint is a little bit lighter.”
