Oof:

But with Trump still up big in New Hampshire, we do wonder what their cover will look like after the NH primary on February 9:

Also, why couldn’t the NY Daily News come up with something better than this?

Here’s the New York Post this morning:

Who did it better?

***

  • John Howard

Still, better to be a clown than a traitor guilty of treason,

    • Perso Nasplit

Not to the left. Being seen as “not cool” vs destroying something they dont believe should exist isnt much of a competition.

      • Ham ☑ – Only ✝Christ Matters

Trump is not my first, nor my second choice for the Republican nomination.

But this is ridiculous. Trump was finally halfway gracious in handling his coming in second. It doesn’t and shouldn’t change his supporters minds on his leadership skills.

For me, his leadership skills weren’t great to begin with, but I give him kudos on his comments and don’t see him as any less than the big as life opponent for the Republican nominee as he has always been.

The leftist Lame Stream Media, but I repeat myself, is just grasping at straws because they don’t have the power they once had.

        • Perso Nasplit

Thats pretty much an echo of my own opinion of trump. Hes not the best by far. Hes not even 3rd best to me. But the possible “liberal” is far better than the known progressive liberal trying to be more socialist than an actual socialist.

Personally, the reason I think trump didnt win is because his base is more than just conservatives. It includes the Reagan democrats. If they couldnt vote R, then he would lose to the actual conservative. Of course, that idea would be void if iowa is an open primary. I honestly dont pay attention to Iowa politics to know.

    • sharkguitar

Who are we talking about? “Traitor Tom” Cotton or Dick Cheney?

  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lS8RjCRolSM Sanchez Crazy as a Loon

Trump’s twit should be active today after he sobers up to the fact he is not the best candidate.

    • Deplorable Jesse-Messy Hammer

Tweeted by Duke Smith: “Isn’t Trump up by 28 in NH (and isn’t he) only down to Cruz by 1 delegate?”
…If I only had a Twitter-Tweeter I’d say: XQZME, Dookey, but wasn’t Trump also up in Iowa before the actual caucus-goers said otherwise?
…Dookey (who just like DT can’t tell the diff between a poll and a VOTE)should also recall that in 2012, Newt clobbered Mitt in South Carolina’s “open”-primary and was then (Newt was) 9 point ahead going into the closed primary of Florida…Where things “flipped” and Newt lost BIG to Mitt…among registered Repubs in a “closed” primary (meaning more conservatives) FFS.

  • kennyraisin

Their graphics department needs some work. I would have put more of Tim Curry’s clown face from IT on the cover. Would have been a bit more interesting. This one looks more like Emmett Kelly. Maybe they’re saving the scarier face for the Hildabeest’s indictment cover.

    • Doc Farmer✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

Why didn’t they just use the clown from those Scream movies? The melty-face ghost clown…

  • Peggy Bundy

Wonder what the front pages were after Santorum & Huckabee’s Iowan victories? lol

    • http://www.unpczone.com Chris Carter

Probably “Who the hell is Rick Santorsmith or whatever is name is?”

    • http://truthbeforedishonor.wordpress.com John Hitchcock

Would those be the years the Republicans nominated the Left of Center McCain and Romney? And now you’re backing the Leftist Trump?

  • Doc Farmer✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

NYDN doesn’t let the grass grow under its desperation, that’s for damn sure…

  • CatHerder ✓fire! ✓fire!

A little bet-hedging might be in order at this point. There are still 49 other states to go.

    • tops116 ✓Quipper

      “56!”
      –Obama

      • http://truthbeforedishonor.wordpress.com John Hitchcock

        59. He visited 57, had 1 more to go, and his campaign wouldn’t let him visit Hawai’i or Alaska (but he could campaign in Germany).

  • Doc Farmer✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

Just a quick note, folks. Trump lost a caucus. Not the general election. Somebody pass that along to NYDN, though. I think they don’t understand how this all works…

    • CatHerder ✓fire! ✓fire!

      Or much of anything else.

      • Doc Farmer✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

They do all seem to be circling the “Vox” drain these days, don’t they?

    • Shoeless Joe

Trump has sizable leads in New Hampshire, and South Carolina
Nothing was decided last night, but Cruz does deserve to be congratulated.

      • Doc Farmer✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

Absolutely. Unlike many others, I’m pro Cruz, pro Trump, pro Fiorina (yeah, I know, but I do like her business acumen), pro Rubio a bit, etc. There is a LOT of quality talent on the GOP side of things, and I’m not too fussy or absolutist at this point…

        • http://truthbeforedishonor.wordpress.com John Hitchcock

I will never, ever, vote for Trump. Neither will my Iraq vet daughter. Neither will the Los Angeles ADA who is being sued by a terrorist bomber.

          • Scott McCollum

            Oh LA? That explains it

          • ChiTownGal

So, in other words, you’re another mental midget biting your nose to spite your face…..great thinking….WOW

          • http://truthbeforedishonor.wordpress.com John Hitchcock

No, I’m in the upper quintile of the intellectual bell curve, and I will never vote for the Democrat Donald Trump. You’re also calling my vet daughter, who is also in the upper quintile, an idiot and an ADA in Los Angeles an idiot. You Trumpsters reject logic, reject personal history, reject Trump’s ideology to proudly display your idolatry. I will not be part of that.

          • ChiTownGal

I am NOT a trumpater…..I don’t trust his glib rhetoric anymore than I believed ovomit’s hopey changey thing. What I’m trying to tell you is, if you don’t vote for WHOMEVER is the GOP candidate, it’s a vote for a dumorat….that’s what happened in ’12 with Romney, because too many conservatives didn’t like his religion. So, you might as well get ready for another 4 years of ovomit style politics if the lefties win. And, BTW, I support WWP, wreaths for Veterans, Operation Gratitude & Cup of Joe for a Joe. Have a good day.

          • http://truthbeforedishonor.wordpress.com John Hitchcock

Trump IS a Leftist Democrat. A vote for Trump IS a vote for a Leftist Democrat. Because Trump IS a Leftist Democrat. All that is aside from your “no vote for one is a vote for another” false dichotomy fallacy.

          • Albert Dailey

a vote for CRUZ is a vote for ESTABLISHMENT

          • http://truthbeforedishonor.wordpress.com John Hitchcock

You are outside your John Brown mind.

          • Albert Dailey

and thank your daughter for her service

        • Scott McCollum

The only problem is most of who you named except Trump and maybe Fiorina who don’t stand a chance are part of the samo samo establishment bought and paid for puppets!

          • genes ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

Trump is one of the Cronies in the Good Ole Boys network.

          • Scott McCollum

That’s where you low info fools are wrong. You say crap cos it sounds good with no substance behind it. Or because it fits into your pea-brain agendas. Trump is the only one who has the balls to call them out like he has been doing. He is the only one not controlled by special interest groups or the media. He is the only one who isnt a scumbag politician. He is the only one footing the bill for his campaign. He is the only one who wants to create jobs and get Americans off welfare and foodstamps! Maybe thats why you dont like him eh? You to damn lazy to work. You like your Obama phone and monthly check!

      • tops116 ✓Quipper

“Trump has sizable leads in New Hampshire, and South Carolina”

He had sizable leads in Iowa, too. Didn’t work out for him.

        • http://truthbeforedishonor.wordpress.com John Hitchcock

I’m a strong Cruz supporter, but I highly doubt he can win the northern suburb of Boston. Cruz might not finish second there. South Carolina is a different story. Trump’s “sizable lead” might well evaporate.

      • Albert Dailey

CONGRATULATED? Cruz has wrapped himself around the bible and then he orders his people TO SPREAD THE WORD BEFORE THE VOTING STARTING IN IOWA THAT BEN CARSON HAD DROPPED OUT and to go ahead and vote for Cruz. ESTABLISHMENT PROVEN

        • genes ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

The “word” came from the media reporters that were tweeting about it BEFORE the caucus.

    • http://www.almarquardt.com/ almarquardt

Plus how many Iowa caucus winners went on to win the GOP nomination?

      • bxarmybrat

        George W. Bush did.

    • tops116 ✓Quipper

An additional note: Trump had double-digit leads in multiple polls for said caucus and repeatedly insisted he would bring in thousands of new voters (again, for said caucus).

This race isn’t over by a long shot, but Cruz popping the inevitability bubble is a devastating setback for a guy whose claim on the nomination was the same as Hillary’s eight years ago: “But I’m leading the polls.”

      • genes ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

Record turn out. Highest ever. But they seem to have turned out to vote him off the Island.

    • Albert Dailey

NYDN is pathetic, CRUZ won 8 delegates by telling his minions to spread the word that BEN CARSON HAD DROPPED OUT so they should vote for Cruz instead……..TRUMP ended up with 7 delegates and the SECOND MOST VOTES IN ALL TIME IOWA CAUCUS HISTORY

      • Robyn Thrasher Aikin

        And Rubio got 7 delegates.

  • Doc Farmer✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

So, the NYDN put Trump in “whiteface”…

    RACISTS!!!

    • Deplorable AMERICAN™✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

      Good catch.

  • Giuseppe Franco

NYDN doesn’t exactly have a good track record with their front page headlines of late, but here’s hoping for once they are right.

    • http://www.unpczone.com Chris Carter

I’d have preferred “Send Out The Clown.”

      • Giuseppe Franco

If you want to see a truly deranged woman, check out Ann Coulter’s Twitter page from last night.

What really eats her though is not only did Trump lose, but the anti-Christ RINO Rubio damn near took down Trumpmania as well. That was like rubbing salt in their wounds.

        She is such a tool.

        https://twitter.com/AnnCoulter?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor

        • HiltonHead_Dude

When Ann Coulter said she didn’t care if Trump did abortions in the White House because his immigration policy was so great she lost me.

          • Maxx

            A thousand times yes.

          • http://truthbeforedishonor.wordpress.com John Hitchcock

She lost me when she was all in for the Michelin Man.

          • Brad

Coulter lost me permanently when she began to insist that a certain person must – MUST – be the V.P. candidate.

Naturally, she said it has to be her current crush:

            Mitt Romney.

Thanks, but no thanks. Buh-bye, Ann.

          • Giuseppe Franco

I’m more of a moderate on social issues anyways, so I had no problem voting for Romney.

Romney is a good man and would have been a good and competent POTUS in my opinion and certainly didn’t embarrass the party the way Trump does regularly.

Trump is a fucking buffoon and far more liberal on the issues where I lean much more conservative than Romney was in 2012.

And I will never vote for Trump in a general election under any circumstance.

          • genes ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

His policy to let the hotel and casino workers stay after reporting to ICE?

        • Paul V

I used to love to read Coulter, but in the last six to eight years she has become a complete idiot. I would say a joke, but it’s not funny how she has deteriorated into a shrieking harridan. She was voluble before, but now she’s just a gibbering loon.

        • http://www.unpczone.com Chris Carter

I saw it last night. And I laughed. Then saw Trumpbots blaming Microsoft like Patriots fans and laughed some more. A great night.

          • Giuseppe Franco

I said months ago that if and when Trump’s campaign goes down in flames, his supporters will never be able to accept that the country rejected his candidacy and buffoonery.

They feel their intense anger and emotional bond with him is resonating with EVERYONE in the general electorate, not just on Planet Trump, and they genuinely believe he’d destroy Hillary in Nov.

So if and when Trump loses, they will immediately blame the loss on a conspiracy, most likely resulting from the political and media establishment colluding together to take him down. Again, it won’t be because Trump is a disgrace and not nearly qualified to be POTUS.

Anyone who has seen Trump’s horrendous favorability numbers knows that he cannot possibly win a general election because the country really, really doesn’t like him.

It doesn’t even occur to Trumpbots that he would have a much harder time beating Hillary than either Cruz or Rubio.

        • Maxx

With her track record of failure in picking winners, I’m glad she’s not a supporter of Marco.

          • vetgal1970

She will switch when the trajectory warrants, just like she loved Christie ’til she loved Romney the last go ’round. She is unhinged and while she may pick up on a topic that hits home at times, she never fails to go right on over the cliff with her rhetoric

  • CrushAllDems

In the case of the NYDN (Hell, and the NYT for that matter), I hope President Trump honors Bernie Sander’s wishes and has their asses taxed at a federal rate of 90%…

    • http://www.unpczone.com Chris Carter

      DeBlassio isn’t doing that yet?

    • Giuseppe Franco

I hate to tell you, but there won’t be a President Trump and the country will be far better off for it.

      • CrushAllDems

        Well, Cruz will do…

    • Perry

Trump is way out in front in NH and SC. The big date is March 1st

      • Mike Peterson

Remember who won Iowa in the last two cycles? Huckabee (blown away by McCain), Santorum (Lost to Romney). Its proof that one caucus doesn’t matter.

        • http://truthbeforedishonor.wordpress.com John Hitchcock

And you’re hanging your hat on the fact that 2 Left of Center people won the GOP nomination, so this year, the Leftist can win it?

          • Mike Peterson

No, what I mean is, it doesn’t matter who wins Iowa, people talk about this race like its over. Iowa doesn’t decided who wins the nominee. Some people put too much stock in last nights race.

      • genes ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

Trump is up 24% in NH, Sanders is up 33%. Obviously NH leans extremely left.
I suspect SC is going to surprise Trump. Bless his heart.

        • Robyn Thrasher Aikin

          Rubio will win SC.

          • genes ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

Probably better than the vote count for Trump last night.

What’s the matter, Joe? I don’t recall you Trump supporters being too upset with NYDN when they depicted the Statue of Liberty flipping Cruz off and the cover telling him to drop dead. Still feeling butt-hurt about last night? ‘Cause there’s a cream for that.

299,538 for the Mon-Fri edition. 422,906 for the Sunday edition. Those are 2015 preliminary audit figures. The website looks a little different than it used to, and the measurement periods for newspapers used to me March and October, I think, back when the Audit Bureau of Circulations published the Fas-Fax reports, which were preliminary audits; final audits came out months later. Now, it’s reported by the Alliance for Audited Media. Anyway, top line data is available for free to anyone who registers at the website.

The Daily News jumped the shark and nuked the fridge some time ago. I really don’t expect them to last that much longer as a newspaper. Expect it to go on sale soon.

I’d really get over that if I were you. BTW, the VAST majority of Americans are for citizenship for illegals: http://www.gallup.com/poll/163169/immigration-reform-proposals-garner-broad-support.aspx

But hey, if you want to admit you’re a re+ard (aka a single issue voter) then go ahead.

        • Rogue Cheddar

No, he’s still pushing amnesty and will not deport illegal aliens, thus he puts American citizens at risk for political expediency. NEXT!

          • R_Stephan

No he’s not, and deporting is a pipe dream. It worked in the 60s when we had significantly less illegals than we do now, but we’d have to give the federal government way too many new agents to deal with it and I ain’t ok with that. Also that’s your definition of political expediency. Give em a path to citizenship, we have bigger problems than some south americans and some mexicans.

          • Rogue Cheddar

Deluded child, yes he is, your naivete would be precious if it weren’t so dangerous to Liberty and the Republic.

          • Rogue Cheddar

You do know he co-wrote 2013 comprehensive immigration reform (CIR) bill? don’t you? Again, it’s not what he says, but what he does. He has evolved continually trying to swing to the right verbally, pandering as it were, but he has no intention of deporting any illegal alien whether or not they intend to rape and pillage or assimilate. His previous senate actions provide more clarity than anything he currently spews.

          • R_Stephan

That isn’t amnesty. Read the bill.

Don’t ever link breitbart. Till they can pull their heads out of their asses and get back to where Andrew left it, they are no longer a credible source for anything. It’s the same as linking Media Mutters.

Also what the heck is this second source? If that’s supposed to be a political hit piece they should try using facts and not cropped out video and their personal opinion, and what is at best hearsay. “This guy hosted Jeb Bush, therefore Rubio is in bed with Jeb” Isn’t proof that he wants amnesty.

I think you need to figure out the definition of amnesty.

          • Rogue Cheddar

The issue is Rubio is a pandering liar. I have no use for useless tools such as you and others willing to ignore laws to suit your own agenda.

          • R_Stephan

Lmao. Mkay then. Feel free to believe what you will. At least I’m willing to read up on things so I can make informed decisions.

          • Rogue Cheddar

          • R_Stephan

Did I say I was for illegal immigration? I must have missed where I said that. I also missed where I said I was pro-amnesty. You’ll have to quote me and point that one out.

          • Rogue Cheddar

Your vote for Rubio will suffice.

          • R_Stephan

            Aw that’s cute.

Anything short of deportation of illegal aliens is amnesty, you call it what you want in your little rose colored world. Rubio is no statesman.

          • Rogue Cheddar

I know the definition of amnesty better than you know the definition of illegal, apparently.

          • R_Stephan

You apparently don’t. A path to citizenship isn’t amnesty. You can project your shortcomings onto me all you’d like. It doesn’t make you any more informed.

          • Rogue Cheddar

We already have a path to citizenship, moron, it’s called get in line and don’t break the law.

          • R_Stephan

This takes longer than a normal path to citizenship, moron.

          • Rogue Cheddar

Gee, you would think there would be less of a stampede at the borders, if that were true, Nincompoop.

          • R_Stephan

Since it didn’t get passed, no, there wouldn’t.

          • Rogue Cheddar

I wonder why it didn’t pass, it being so wonderful a thing for all concerned.

          • Robyn Thrasher Aikin

Rubio has NEVER pushed amnesty. OMG, please…please research for yourself.

      • fools2234

Yes, by far the most electable and he aligns with me on most issues. Aligns with Americans on immigration (unlike lunatic Trump)

Wow. You sure make a case for your side…smh

          • Rogue Cheddar

You seem to smack your head a lot, is it to feel alive?

        • Hi This Is My Username

Gang of 8 was a huge turn off to a lot of us. I’m not typically a one issue person, but his immigration nonsense turned me off big time, especially considering all of the threats we face.

      • Robyn Thrasher Aikin

Rubio is a great candidate AND he can win! We do want to win, right?

    • constitutionminded

I don’t think those two will ever get along.

      • fools2234

Rubio or Cruz 2016 then? Prefer Rubio, would be happy with Cruz though. Anyone is a step up from the unelectable clown.

  • R_Stephan

I fail to see the issue here. He got stomped. His movement is dead in the waters. Denial only gets you so far, try getting to the acceptance stage of grieving, it’ll be better for everyone in the end.

    “Make second place great again”
    – Donald Trump

  • http://youhavetobethistalltogoonthisride.blogspot.com/ keyboard jockey

Donald Trump didn’t pay 25,000 for every caucus vote and come in 6th. There are 3 tickets out of Iowa and Trump got one.On the other hand the democrat candidate is tied with an old socialist and is still waiting on her ticket.

    • tops116 ✓Quipper

“Donald Trump didn’t pay 25,000 for every caucus vote and come in 6th.”

So? I mean, I enjoy rubbing it in Jeb’s face, too, but last night was a much more devastating loss for Trump than him. Everyone knew Jeb was flat-lining, but Trump and his supporters had repeatedly insisted that the polls were accurate and that he would bring in new voters. Didn’t happen, which pops the inevitability bubble.

      • http://youhavetobethistalltogoonthisride.blogspot.com/ keyboard jockey

Donald Trump didn’t come in sixth he didn’t finish at the bottom the standard doesn’t change there are 3 tickets out of Iowa just because he didn’t come in first it’s still a good showing. And pissing off any of his voters is a mistake they are going to be needed in the general that’s the lesson of Romney’s failed campaign don’t alienate voters many stayed home and didn’t turn out to vote for Romney in the general.

      • http://youhavetobethistalltogoonthisride.blogspot.com/ keyboard jockey

I didn’t want Trump to sweep I am happy he has drag. I didn’t want him sweeping Iowa and New Hampshire and snowballing the rest of the primaries. Now we have a real race it’s going to get earned. At the end of races they still have to face the democrats nominee it’s not smart to turn off anyone’s primary voters including Donald Trumps.

  • tops116 ✓Quipper

Well, it’s about time. I’ve been calling Trump a make-up-less clown for months.

  • nc ✓s & balances

Was it really necessary to humiliate the guy just to sell a few papers? I’m thrilled Cruz beat Trump, the Post front page was fine (“Cruz-ified”), but that clown face was way over the top.

    • tops116 ✓Quipper

If it were anyone but Trump, I’d agree, but that guy has been a raging asshole for months. He had it coming.

    • constitutionminded

Now is his chance to buy the paper and fire everyone.

    • genes ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

It’s exactly what Trump would do if Cruz had been leading by 5-10% in the polls and lost by 4%.

New York O Bogus liberal newspapers do what they do best humiliate people, they’re news is always anti America

  • notenoughtime

Why all the hatorade. Love him or hate him, Trump has definitely shaken up the process this election cycle and topics are being discussed that would have never been brought up for fear of political suicide. Seems to me the clown show is not happening in the GOP but on the democratic side – coin toss to pick a winner!

    • Fingolfin

Well I speak only for myself when I say the topics that “no one wanted to bring up” are ones that I disagree with so vehemently that it doesn’t make me appreciate Trump.

  • http://truthbeforedishonor.wordpress.com John Hitchcock

Trump people are saying NH, NH, NH! Well, NH is a suburb of Boston. I don’t expect ANY Conservative to win that state’s Primary, this year or 30 years from now. Cruz might come in third or fourth in NH, that’s how weak the state is on Conservatism.

    • constitutionminded

They have come a very long way from their Puritan roots, if anyone there even remembers that.

  • Chevypowered

Everyone act like this is over with. No Trump fan but for his base this will be the time to rally up and make sure this loss will be the only one.

    This is not over with.

    • http://youhavetobethistalltogoonthisride.blogspot.com/ keyboard jockey

The concern of the RNC is that Trump voters don’t just turn out for Trump in the primaries they are engaged they want them to turn out for whoever the nominee turns out to be in November still excited about voting republican. Like all the democrat voters are excited about voting socialist/

      • genes ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

Which they won’t. Trump loses they’ll take their ball and run home crying about the bullies.

        • http://youhavetobethistalltogoonthisride.blogspot.com/ keyboard jockey

It’s a mistake to alienate voters. Romney did it with his 47% of you aren’t going to vote for me. The RNC needs to be a whole lot more savvy this time around. They have to take into account the long game not just winning the primary at any cost.

  • schveiguy

When did salon start a newspaper?

    • @ChunkyTWshngtn

      Yesterday!

  • Mike Peterson

The NYDN needs to remember history, in 2008 Mike Huckabee won Iowa (eventual winner John McCain finished 4th), in 2012 Rick Santorum won, (eventual winner Romney was 2nd or 3rd I don’t remember off the top of my head). This race is far from over.

    • genes ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

In 2008 McCain lost to the Most Racist President. In 2012, Romney lost to the Won. Maybe we should have gone with the Huckster and Santorum.

      • Mike Peterson

Hind sight being 2020 clearly because they both lost.

  • Karla1953

Frankly the NYDN for me is neither here nor there. Having said that Trump is hardly out but I wonder if he will learn anything from this. And even though Rubio came in 3rd in the big picture he & Trump both got the same number of delegates from last night. Cruz had the best ground game and it showed but this is also a marathon not a sprint and now he will be in territory that is very different.
Finally this shows this gal that me not thinking that polls are the be all end all and always correct is serving me well. JMO as always

    • vetgal1970

The polls, meh, the only people who answer them are the people who want to. I’ve had pollsters call and ask me to register my opinion and have had a few try to debate me into answering the way they assume I would have. Since they are used to sort and pander, I choose to no longer participate. If we just once could have a candidate that simply looks at us ALL as the ‘American’ bloc we probably wouldn’t be swirling the bowl the way we are now.

      • Newportcarl

Vetgal ..I have to admit I just say the opposite of what I believe to every pollster. Especially the push-polls. Love to mess with them.

        • journogal

I do, too. I think that’s why I’m not called anymore.

      • Karla1953

I have never had a pollster call me in all of the years I have been voting and they are many LOL……………..and I am not just a fair weather voter I vote every single election. I just have gotten so fed up with the poll focus that have been more wrong than right yet folks still tout them

  • Dan Abbett

So, I’ve been to most of the political sites I monitor. I see a lot of posts about Trump. I see a lot of rah-rah for Rubio. I see a lot of breakdown about who turned out and why. The one thing that is missing in most cases is anything positive about the fact that Ted Cruz won.

A lot of sniping, a lot of allegations and a lot of false bravado about the coming primary in New Hampshire and beyond. Precious little however, about Cruz taking the slings and arrows of the media, the political class and the rabid masses known as Trump supporters and coming out on top. To them I say SCHADENFREUDE!

    • Hi This Is My Username

I think my favorite has been those claiming Cruz is too religious, after I have watched them love that about him in the past and desire that in a candidate. It’s interesting how elections really bring out the true colors of people.

  • Dobermite

Cruz is a charlatan, that much is clear (unless you are a religious zealot or an illiterate pig farmer, making Iowa the ideal state for the Rev. Ted), only consolation is the degree to which the GOPe hates Ted Cruz (heck, the way everybody outside of looney Iowa despises the Rev. Ted), so they can’t really enjoy Trump losing.

    • journogal

You must not know any farmers. They aren’t illiterate.

      • Dobermite

I know that, J, I’m just upset at Iowa for giving this charlatan a win and doing a little venting.

  • Crakalakin

No Trump fan but I expect him to take NH. What will NYDN print then?

This is such foolishness. It’s Iowa, Jake. Lots of candidates who didn’t win Iowa went on to win the nomination. These caucuses are virtually meaningless.

  • lCOYAR

I hope Trump buys those newspapers. Not the papers themselves, but their headquarters.

And then I hope he dares his new employees to insult him.

  • Sonja Smith

How the hell is coming in second in a cast of 11 a horrible loss? No Jeb, Christie, Carson on the cover about their INTENSE lack of support. NYC can really put out some hate for one of their own, and Trump needs to remember that when they come hands stretched out begging.

  • Frustrated Teacher

They keep proving Cruz right….pretty odd when you get all huffy about a description of you and the prove it was correct by your idiotic response to the description…

  • wrestlefan01

he may very well win nh..but trump and his trumpetts need to quit harping the polls..he was leading by like 5 in iowa only to lose by like 3 so the polls tend to be very off

    • genes ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

Trump is far enough left for New Hampshire.
