Donald Trump announced on Twitter last night that he will be traveling to Israel by the end of the year:

And according to a report from the Jerusalem Post, Trump wants to visit the Temple Mount, one of the holiest sites in Jerusalem for both Jews and Muslims:

In the past, visits to the Temple Mount by Israeli politicians have led to violence. From the Jerusalem Post:

The planned visit follows Trump’s call for “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on” in light of “great hatred towards Americans by large segments of the Muslim population.”

Palestinians have often used Israeli politicians’ visits to the Mount as an excuse for violence, falsely claiming Israel is changing the status quo.

Israeli Arab politician Taleb Abu Arrar warned that Trump’s visit the site — which includes the Al-Aqsa mosque — would “set the whole region on fire”:

It’s been confirmed that Trump will meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on December 28:
