Itâs getting ugly out there.
Both Politicoâs Roger Simon and GOP presidential candidate John Kasich are comparing Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler this morning over Trumpâs recent comments about Muslims and Syrian refugees.
First up, hereâs Simonâs piece:

And his sub-head paraphrases the famous Holocaust poem âFirst they came âŠâ by Pastor Martin Niemöller, with Simon replacing âJewsâ from the original with âMuslimsâ:
Kasich used the Niemöller poem as well in a new ad featuring a former Vietnam War POW:
Kasich goes there:

From the Washington Post:
The spot features retired Air Force Col. Tom Moe speaking at an event in Ohio, the same day Trump held a rally in Columbus. Moe, who the Kasich campaign identifies as a former Vietnam POW, paraphrases a quote from Protestant pastor Martin Niemöller, taken from his lectures after World War II.
âYou might not care if Donald Trump says Muslims should register with their government, because youâre not one,â says Moe, to an ominous soundtrack. âAnd you might not care if Donald Trump says heâs going to round up all the Hispanic immigrants, because youâre not one. And you might not care if Donald Trump says itâs okay to rough up black protesters, because youâre not one. And you might not care if Donald Trump wants to suppress journalists, because youâre not one. But think about this: If he keeps going, and he actually becomes president, he might just get around to you. And you better hope thereâs someone left to help you.â
Trumpâs response should be interesting. Stay tunedâŠ
