Sally Kohn has a new piece up where she claims guns kill “10,000 kids per year.”
We regulate toys that harm a few children but refuse to regulate guns that kill 10,000 kids per year? My latest: https://t.co/XGoSt9lbTM

The source for the information, however, seems to be something Kohn heard from Ashleigh Banfield. Here’s her opener:
Recently, my CNN colleague Mel Robbins made a startling point. Robbins was on “Legal View” to discuss the case of an 11-year-old who shot and killed an 8-year-old neighbor when host Ashleigh Banfield noted that 10,000 children are killed by guns every year.
Too bad she didn’t bother to check if this was accurate or not because she’s off. By a lot.
Here’s former NYPD cop, radio host and Blaze contributor John Cardillo with the truth:
(1) @CNN, @SallyKohn lied. 2014 FBI Stats 11,961 total homicides. Only 1,085 victims under 18. Not 10,000 by gun. pic.twitter.com/OoUW4ra5AE

(2) @CNN, @SallyKohn's lie was in fact egregious. FBI-Only 8,124 gun deaths total in US in 2014. 90+% adult victims. https://t.co/8nE32HVWFg

.@CNN, @sallykohn falsely multiplied the # of kids killed by guns by twelve. Does no one at CNN fact check before publishing content?

But it’s not just on the 10,000 number where she’s wrong. She also insinuates that gun deaths of kids younger than 18 are from accidents:
.@CNN, @SallyKohn was also dishonest implying that <18 gun deaths are accidental. About 95% are crime related among teens w/illegal guns.

Time for a correction CNN:
.@sallykohn & @CNN, will you correct the lies? Will you apologize for misleading readers?
