2016 presidential candidate Marco Rubio told his staff to make a spot on his schedule on August 14, but it’s not for your standard campaign stop.
Rubio, a well known fan of rap music, wants to make sure he has the time to catch the premiere of the new film “Straight Out of Compton,” the story of the founding of the rap group NWA in the 1980’s!
Hey @TeamMarco clear two hours on my schedule on Aug 14. Gotta see #StraightOuttaCompton
— Marco Rubio (@marcorubio) July 21, 2015
He’ll see the flick in either Iowa or New Hampshire, naturally:
Anyone know a good theatre in Manchester or Des Moines to catch #StraightOuttaCompton? Trailer looks amazing.
— Marco Rubio (@marcorubio) July 21, 2015
Ha!
But this love of rap music is really nothing new. For example, Rubio gave this interview to BuzzFeed on rap music in 2013:
I never thought I'd say this but I agree with this Presidential candidate's take on Tupac vs. Biggie. https://t.co/I6SEfaSAHO
— Tom Zeleznock (@thefaketomz) April 15, 2015
And earlier this year, he impressed the folks over at TMZ who thought they could stump him with a Tupac Shakur question:
Marco Rubio — Knows Gangsta Rap! http://t.co/hz046HelpY

Although Rubio’s motives are being questioned by the haters:
@marcorubio @TeamMarco What’s the next line of the song Marco??
— Devin Porter (@melvintillius) July 21, 2015
@marcorubio @TeamMarco To see how you'd be calling to abolish hip hop if you were around back then?

@marcorubio @darrensands @TeamMarco you sure are with it. And you apparently missed the entire message of the music.

@marcorubio trying a little too hard to relate to the people. Pretty obvious there.
