Why is it so hard for the media to get the basic facts on how a gun is purchased in this country correct?

Here’s CNN Money, for example, with the often-repeated falsehood that sellers of firearms purchased at a gun show don’t need to perform a background check before selling a gun to a customer:

No, it won’t die.

And here’s Bob Owens from our sister publication Bearing Arms with the truth. The “overwhelming majority of guns offered for sale” at these dreaded gun shows are from sellers with a federal firearms license. This license requires them to do a background check, even if that sale is at a gun show:

Apparently not.
