Singer, songwriter and actress Keri Hilson surprised many of her fans today when she actually came out in support of trans-race NAACP leader Rachel Dolezal.
For real. Here’s what Hilson said that’s ruffled so many feathers:
Let's just all thank #RachelDolezal. Identity, pathological, & parental issues aside, she's doing more than most of us do for ourselves.
— Keri Hilson (@KeriHilson) June 12, 2015
Yeah, it’s deep. Deep as in “deep thoughts from Jack Handy.”
It is really weird tho. She took it pretty far with slave whips & what not. Levels. Deep. #RachaelDolezal

So she’s deep, but a liar?
I'm not sayin she doesn't have serious ISSUES, I'm just sayin don't knock her intentions or discredit her efforts. @NAACP stands by her work
— Keri Hilson (@KeriHilson) June 12, 2015
She’s correct that the NAACP, as we posted earlier, does stand by her — for now, at least.
Just my personal opinion. You don't need to agree. Or thank her. Lol.

And as you can see from Hilson’s mentions, her support of Dolezal didn’t go over so well:

@KeriHilson but she lied ! Just being upfront would've eliminated all of this backlash . Liars cannot be trusted . Ever

@KeriHilson how can you 'thank' someone for imitating you?
