A police officer in McKinney, Texas has been placed on “administrative leave” after video surfaced showing the white officer slamming a black teenage girl to the ground and pulling his gun on other black teenagers after responding to a 911 call about a “disturbance” at the Craig Ranch North Community Pool.
From the McKinney Police Department’s Facebook page:
According to BuzzFeed, the fight started after racist comments were made by the white adults at the pool:
Teens at the pool party told BuzzFeed News the police were called after a fight broke out between adults and youths at the pool after the adults made racist comments telling the black children to leave the area and return to “Section 8 [public] housing.”
BuzzFeed also reports that the video which led to the officer’s suspension was shot and uploaded by Brandon Brooks, a white teeneager at the pool party who said the officers were only detaining teens who were not white:
“Everyone who was getting put on the ground was black, Mexican, Arabic,” he said. “[The cop] didn’t even look at me. It was kind of like I was invisible.”
Here is Brooks’ video. The altercation between the officer and the black girl happens at the 2:50 mark with the officer pulling his gun shortly thereafter:
Here it is from another angle, with adults attempting to get the teens to stop filming the arrest:

The children's voices in #McKinney video are heartbreaking: appealing to the cop w reason, respect, pleading. He treats them like animals.

Where is the adult, the White woman, who called the kids racial slurs and started fighting them? Is she in jail? #McKinney

What threat did a teenage girl in a bikini represent? How can you justify that use of force? #McKinney

Let me guess, this cop is on paid suspension and will be cleared of no wrongdoing in a few weeks. Excessive force is accepted. #McKinney
