Global warming (probably) has struck again, this time unleashing its surrogate fighting force of carbon-spewing fanatics known as ISIS on the Syrian city of Palmyra, “one of the world’s most magnificent remnants of antiquity” and the “birthplace of humanity”:

And here’s a tank with ISIS fighters on it without any concern whatsoever of their carbon footprint:

There are no reports — yet — that ISIS has begun destroying these ancient treasures, but that’s a huge worry right now:
IS hasn't yet destroyed the #Palmyra ruins. The fighters are presumably too busy setting up their cameras so they can document their idiocy.

And there is some question on why the U.S. didn’t do more to prevent ISIS from taking Palmyra in the first place:
The Syrian Army's defeat at #Palmyra may demoralize Damascus. Why would we lift a finger to prevent that? #strategybeforeworldheritage

When you look at map and you read @rmslim comment, you have to wonder why US coalition cudnt stop IS advance? https://t.co/nuGFfyajGp

It’s a fair point. How does ISIS manage to move its forces around Iraq and Syria without getting blown up by U.S. airpower in the region?
