Detective Terence Avery Green, a Fulton County police officer, was killed earlier this morning while investigating a “shots fired” call near the town of Fairburn, Georgia. Green was reportedly a 22-year-veteran of the force:
The alleged suspect in the death of Detective Green, Amanuel Menghesha (seen here in a previous mugshot), was reportedly injured during the attack and taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
A second officer was shot during the ambush, but amazingly, not injured after the bullet hit and shattered his police radio.
Menghesha, according to police, was:
…possibly drunk when he started terrorizing the Cedar Grove neighborhood near Fairburn, Ga., early Wednesday. He carried a long barrel gun and banged on doors. Then, he fired into some of the homes.
Rest in peace.
