The Grammy-nominated rapper Joseph Foreman, known professionally as Afroman, was arrested last night in Biloxi, Miss. after brutally punching a female fan in the face during a concert.

The fan, who got up on stage and started dancing next to the star before the punch, made a “citizens arrest” and Foreman was then arrested and charged with “misdemeanor simple assault.”

Here’s a Vine of the punch:

And a little longer video that shows the seconds leading up to the alleged assault:

A representative for Afroman defended the punch as a “completely involuntary reflex reaction to people infringing on his stage space.”

Tweeters, however, aren’t buying his self-defense argument:

Foreman paid a $330 bond and was released, but there’s no word yet on a future court date.
