We’ve heard plenty in the last several days about the popular vote vs. the Electoral College, and actor George Takei isn’t happy with this outcome:
This is not what true democracy looks like, is it. pic.twitter.com/0KLG1TsXWk

There’s a pretty good reason it doesn’t look like a “true democracy”: Because it isn’t!

Except we're NOT a democracy. We're a constitutional republic. Unfortunate that Mr. Takei doesn't know that. https://t.co/ivgTVhmmPc

This isn't what a true democracy looks like, but that makes sense because the USA is a republic and not a democracy. https://t.co/1NEfq5c9u7

.@GeorgeTakei Probably because our brilliant founders designed a Representative Republic. Pure Democracies lead to tyranny.

Yes, that's right. The U.S. was founded as a republic, not a democracy. You should read up on it. https://t.co/AAAVvtIk3q

George some advice:
1. Read the Constitution
2. Find a high school freshman to explain the need for the Electoral College
3. Your team lost https://t.co/jLPvyVS2cN— bill baumann (@wentworth8022) November 20, 2016

Every #liberal wants you to think the USA is a #democracy. Remember the pledge of allegiance says "And to the #Republic for which it stands" https://t.co/avNR6TsVEA
