Does the 2016 election season seem tame compared to 2012?
“Binders full of women” — a comment about resumes of female applicants for state government jobs — seems, at this point, quite quaint.

Former Obama speechwriter disagreed that Dems tried to paint Romney as a “monster” in 2012:
This is the lamest revisionist history, guys. Big disagreements, lots of harsh words on both sides. "Binders" became a joke. But monster? https://t.co/f7o3dpyFKy

Well, maybe it depends on what your definition of “monster” is:
You guys ran ads saying Romney gave a woman cancer. https://t.co/HPdFHQLadb

@guypbenson I know it's become a kind of gospel, but one hard (and questionable) super pac ad is not enough to make this case
— Jon Lovett (@jonlovett) October 13, 2016
It ran way more widely than the Willie Horton ad, yet that's held up as All Republicans Ever Everywhere, 24 yrs later

The whole "Romney gave a woman cancer thing" was just for fun too. No hard feelings. https://t.co/i0LX4Zt98w

Do you not remember the ad that claimed Romney indirectly caused someone's death? https://t.co/8qwIX6k0ji

It’s safe to say that Democrat criticism of Romney wasn’t limited to “binders full of women.”
Romney was trashed on TV for all of June most of July with ads that had no relationship with reality.

I'm old enough to remember "Put y'all back in chains."
— Mr. November (@matttolander) October 13, 2016
no, you need to own this. I am a huge Obama supporter, but the media/campaign made Romney sound anti-woman and sexist…

"Romney tortured his dog" https://t.co/sxprZVpXkU

A joke? Really? That was the spin coming out of that debate and was used to talk about how the GOP degrades women. This is just dishonest. https://t.co/oPMGd9yiVQ
