The hashtag #CrimingWhileWhite has been trending since yesterday.
Here are a couple of examples of the original intent of #CrimingWhileWhite:

The hashtag caught the attention of Cory Booker, D-N.J.:
A profoundly interesting hashtag/conversation going on: #CrimingWhileWhite

Naturally, #CrimingWhileWhite invited some blowback:

I drove drunk off a bridge, did not report it for 9 hours, the girl in my car died and I faced no charges.#tedkennedy #CrimingWhileWhite

Conan O’Brien’s sidekick Andy Richter doesn’t think the hashtag does justice to the “cause”:
Maybe sharing light-hearted stories of how good you've got it isn't the best way to show solidarity w/ grieving people? #CrimingWhileWhite
— Andy Richter (@AndyRichter) December 4, 2014
After some criticism, Richter slightly corrected course:
Folks, I understand the INTENT of #CrimingWhileWhite. It's as evident as white people's urge to make everything about them.
