President Trump had a news conference today (actually several) at the United Nations in New York. At one such Q & A session with reporters, Trump said this:
Trump takes swipe at Houston congressman @RepAlGreen, early advocate of #impeachment:
"He’s a real beauty, that guy…. He essentially said we can’t beat him, let’s impeach him."

Trump claims the impeachment inquiry comes because Dems don't think they can win in 2020: "We can't beat him, let's impeach him. That's pretty dangerous stuff."
Recent general election polls have Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders all beating him.

With that, the Washington Post’s Aaron Blake did some fact-checking, MSM-style:
Literally within seconds of this, Trump repeated his false claim about what Al Green said about impeachment.

Playboy’s Washington correspondent was on it as well:
Trump’s “lying” about what Rep. Green said? Is the claim really false?
He absolutely said that. You're the liar @AaronBlake — par for the course for you people over there at WaPo though https://t.co/bHHDr5cxEW

The video doesn’t lie. Sure, Green didn’t use those exact words, but is there any doubt that’s what Green’s comments amounted to?
The only problem is that it’s true: https://t.co/N45nhkBxx4

Here is that clip of Al Green that Trump just referenced: "I'm Concerned If We Don't Impeach This President, He Will Get Re-Elected" https://t.co/urx1qysdES

That sure sounds like “if we can’t beat him, impeach him” to us.
