COP24 is off and running in Poland, and with it, some dire warnings, such as this one from Sir David Attenborough:

In other words, it sounds like all the world’s problems could be solved by turning over most of the country’s wealth and control to the United Nations for redistribution, minus any overhead charges of course:
In a rare intervention, presidents of previous UN climate summits issued a joint statement as the talks got under way, calling on states to take “decisive action… to tackle these urgent threats”.
“The impacts of climate change are increasingly hard to ignore,” said the statement, a copy of which was obtained by AFP. “We require deep transformations of our economies and societies.”

If the U.N. really wants a good head start on lowering the amount of greenhouse gases that go into the atmosphere, they could start by canceling U.N. Climate Summits:
The media viciously attacked @realdonaldtrump for skipping the #G20 #climatechange pledge (nevermind that the USA leads the world in lowering emissions)… but it turns out the UN climate summit will emit more CO2 than 8,200 American homes do in a year. https://t.co/iJ3SwXH9GZ pic.twitter.com/MgalHbJj8s
