Late last week, some journalists and commentators were all over an American Red Cross tweet and passing it along as a claim that the Trump administration was not allowing the organization access to people being held in detention facilities near the border.

One of the people the Red Cross corrected was MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough:

This is not true, and we are sorry if our statement led you to this conclusion. We’ve had discussions with federal officials to see if there is a way we can help, but no one is “banning” us from anything, and if there is a role for the Red Cross to play, we will.

Scarborough didn’t appreciate the fact check, and instead doubled down and accused the organization of spinning like the White House press secretary:
