As Twitchy told you earlier this week, the University of Connecticut, preparing for a lecture from Ben Shapiro, alerted students that staff would be available for anyone feeling a need to “talk through their feelings” about the horrors of a campus visit from a conservative. One entity that might contribute to special snowflake melt about conservatives is the school’s student editorial board, as evidenced by how Shapiro’s description of his speech was reported:
I don't wonder that UConn students need counseling when I visit. Their student editorial board is apparently illiterate and/or deeply dishonest. Here's what they say I said. Here's what I actually said. I was obviously joking about how non-threatening I was. pic.twitter.com/SV820hallm

What was reported:
What was actually said (in obvious sarcasm):
Sheesh.
It happens a lot, but I will say that it's deeply irritating to get #CathyNewmanned https://t.co/QLH6J6WQoh

We don’t doubt it does happen quite often.
Fake News at an early age. Very encouraging. https://t.co/d3RTGmZZkW

Wow that is awful writing. Totally taking what you said out of context. I may not agree with you or other people but I am not going to make stories up.

Paging @UConn and @the_dailycampus. May want to retract/modify your recent editorial on Ben Shapiro's visit. Clear misrepresentation of statements. https://t.co/w3idIJpJRG

They're learning the journalism ropes at UConn. This deceitful lying will surely land them a job at CNN. https://t.co/aT71yTVaxs

They'll make fine CNN on-air personalities when they grow up. https://t.co/MGkPkjrMNZ

That wouldn’t be surprising.
