Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration for threatening to withhold federal funds to cities that ignore federal law and serve as sanctuaries to people in the U.S. illegally. Emanuel tried to defend his position today:

Basically here’s what Emanuel’s doing:
So you are going to sue the department of justice because they will not give you money to help you harbor illegal aliens. Makes sense.

When it’s put that way it sounds even more ridiculous. Also, Emanuel, who is ignoring federal immigration laws, is suing the Trump administration for countering by threatening to withhold federal funds that his city needs for purposes of law enforcement:
The suit revolves around specific conditions Sessions announced in July for a federal program, the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant, or Bryne JAG, which provides federal funding to support local law enforcement efforts.
Trying to deflect from your failures? No one can live the dream in CHI. Your crime is high & you tax too much. https://t.co/XlqxzMFmdn

You would think he'd be worried about the terrible debt Illinois is in rather than trying to be in the federal spotlight https://t.co/PLQZZmOeK3

They are going to be the only people that want to come to Chicago. Rahm should worry about the outrageous violence problem in his city.
