Yesterday PBS aired a documentary titled “The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution.” The documentary claims that there are still many Black Panther members in prison, and with that, Bette Midler directed a question to the White House:
#BlackPanthersPBS says there are there are still 20 BlackPanthers still in jail. That must be nearly 40 years served. Will Mr Obama pardon?

Shouldn’t a closer examination take place first?
@BetteMidler why would he pardon them? Do you not know why they are even in there?

@mehere01 @BetteMidler She needs to do her homework before stating comments like this.

@BetteMidler what did they do?
— Sam LaVergne (@samlavergne) February 17, 2016
@BetteMidler Depends. What are they in for?

In spite of those lingering questions, Midler’s question for Obama got plenty of backing:
I have many reasons to adore this woman; THIS is one of them! #BlackPanthersPBS #PardonthePanthers https://t.co/UgigkbNGSJ

And #LeonardPeltier, too. The FBI also did dirty tricks against AIM. https://t.co/MXopnLW0IQ
