Harry Reid is standing up for Hillary Clinton using the “everybody does it” defense:

What’s Reid trying to say? Both of them broke the law so neither should be indicted? Or the opposite? Who knows — it’s Harry Reid and he lies for a living.

  • J. Glovington Donahue VI

Did he and Mrs. Powell take hundreds of millions of dollars in bribes, too?

    • Jesse B. Hammer

To put it another way, did they destroy whatever govt-stuff was somehow on their home-computers? Notice what the Left always does: [1] They focus on the most innocuous part of the whole scandal (“b-b-b-but Repubs have home-PC’s too)…AND [2] Thereby they always give away their hypocritical double-standard (“b-b-b-but both parties do it”, says Harry, thus begging the question of Harry “THEN WHY aren’t you equally outraged when YOUR party does it[?]).

It is called a tu quoque …. Liberals default to a variety of logical fallacies. Usually it is the ad-hominem, but they do like a good tu quoque when they can get one.

  • John Howard

Yeah, Harry. Just because she has committed numerous felonies, no need to rush to prosecution.

  • Patrick Albanese

    Marvelous idea Harry.

Tell you what, let’s start with the easy prosecution first. Hillary. If that one sticks and she goes to jail, then I’d say you’ve got something there.

  • vetgal1970

You know what? If he broke the law then Yes. The DC culture of ‘everybody does it therefore no one is guilty’ needs to be broken.

Since we are talking about indictments, why not indict Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi as well. I’m sure they’ve broken a few laws. It’s just a matter of figuring out which ones.

    • Andrew Curlutu

Well, it’s more a question of figuring out which laws politicians can or can’t violate with impunity, ergo, overtime laws and insider trading.

Absolutely! And Condi Rice too if it is warranted.

To excuse such massive 6 year long violation of law code intent and regulations, because someone else did it years ago, means no laws.

Simple. If I don;t pay all my due taxes I can say that someone else got away with it so it doesn’t apply to me.

Sure, indict Colin Powell if he mishandled classified information.

Um, you know that since the original Hillary Clinton words stated the server was set up by Bill Clinton and paid for by Bill Clinton and it was for his use. She just added in on it for convenience on one device. No classified emails were ever sent or received. It was protected by the Secret Service 24/7/365 so it was secure.

Now what access to these higher than classified records on Bill Clinton’s server did Bill Clinton have access to?

Does Bill Clinton still hold that top clearance?

What did Bill read and when did he read it?

Was he the go between to Sidney Blumenthal and his wife the Sec of State?

    • Tessa from Texas

It still makes me laugh when I read that the Secret Service was guarding that server 24/7. Obviously they would have noticed if any information had detached itself and walked away.

He DID say this on NBC last year which had about 28 seconds of national news.

“But Powell defended the decision to invade Iraq against that
criticism, asserting it was based on a unified — if faulty — evaluation
      from the intelligence community.

“If we had known the intelligence was wrong, we would not have gone into Iraq. But the intelligence community, all 16 agencies, assured us that it was right,” he said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

  • HiltonHead_Dude

FFS, there is only one candidate under federal investigation, and she isn’t a republican.

  • Lizzyp

This story is seriously pissing me off.

First, I notice that none of the major news outlets were in any rush to report on Kerry’s classified email, from his personal email to HRC’s private email. OR that the email in question appears to have been deemed classified when sent (judgin by the declass. date) OR that HRC forwarded it to an NSA guy in the WHITE HOUSE. That came out on Monday, not that you’d know if you get your news from MSN, CNN, Yahoo or the Huff Post. Except these guys are Republican appointees, so we have to get that right out there on EVERY news outlet.

Second, I really can’t abide ‘but so and so did it too!’ as a defense. What they did was completely different from what HRC did. They should be asked about it, and they should have to defend it, but SO SHOULD SHE!! They seem to be saying that, because others did it, there’s no wrongdoing. No,

Third, none of the msm outlets seem to have any real interest in reporting on how many hoops HRC had to jump through to get that information from one system to the other. Instead, they just focus on ‘not marked’ and ‘over classified, after the fact.’ My rule of thumb when dealing with technical matters, be they computer or fixing my washing machine, is that if you have to work that hard to make something happen it probably isn’t what you’re supposed to do.

  • Dan Abbett

One of the first things you learn as a manager faced with disciplinary issues with an employee, is to not allow the employee to shift the issue to others but keep it focused on the employee’s problem. That definitely applies in this case.
