Kentucky Senator Rand Paul suspended his bid for the GOP presidential nomination today, and the Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza offered a reason:
Rand Paul probably lost the 2016 presidential race on Aug. 19, 2014. That was the day James Foley was beheaded. https://t.co/UFyqF6mfl2

The article is titled “The rise of the Islamic State doomed Rand Paul’s presidential chances.”
If Paul had dismissed ISIS as “contained” and blamed terrorism on climate change would that have made him more presidential?
.@TheFix It's a good thing we had a President who responded in a sufficiently serious manner. pic.twitter.com/dsandW1pQv

If a GOP president was photographed doing that right after addressing a beheading the press would still be bombarding us with the photo.

Without a doubt.
