NBC News’ Andrea Mitchell was showed what it’s like to #FeelTheBern:

He should try that while on stage with Hillary at the next Dem debate.

Maybe Sanders thought he was trying to take on drug companies.

If Sanders were a GOPer, it might have made different headlines:

  • Orwellian_Dilemma

Bernie: “Let’s knock out capitalism, because prosperous people don’t depend on government.”

    • Jake Wilde

“Bernie isn’t against capitalism, socialists aren’t against free markets. They’re against corporations running things.” — My Shi$$y professor

      • http://truthbeforedishonor.wordpress.com John Hitchcock

Show me a government agency that is as efficient with money and generates as much wealth for the people as the free market does, and then we’ll talk, professor dufus. Oh, and show me your business venture’s P&L statement. Oh, never tried to go into business? Too much time dancing naked in a New York farm field?

I feel sorry for you, man. Having to deal with the riff-raff colleges call professors these days.

      • http://wandererswaysite.wordpress.com Wanderer

Ask your professor what he/she/it thinks a corporation is. It’s not some monolithic creature on Wall Street, it’s just a group of people.

On second thought, don’t. It won’t go well for you. This professor seems incapable of rational thought. Would probably tell you (with no small amount of casual disdain) how you just don’t understand socialism.

        • Jake Wilde

Yeah, I fight them to a degree, but professors are nasty people when they focus on their bias more than cognitive thinking and that is 99% of them. I do entertain a measure of respect from them all however much they most likely seethe at my appearance.

I walked up to my class the other day and was a bit early so I stood in the hall waiting patiently. The Chicano Studies class was in the room wrapping up a lecture and discussion. I heard, “There was no racism in America before the Europeans got here.”

          • MoxieLouise1

Hmm…what do they call all that fighting the Indians were doing amongst each other before the Europeans arrived??

          • Jake Wilde

Cannibalism, genocide, human sacrifice, war, they ignore all of it out of convenience for the narrative.

          • AMD_Afficionado

            >”Yeah, I fight them to a degree…”

            Good one 😉

        • Aparition42

What the professor misunderstands, or rather, one of the many things the professor misunderstands, is that corporations are a product of government.

If an individual attempts to run a business for themselves, the court system (government) allows them to be sued out of existence by including all of their personal assets in their business’ worth.

The legislature (government again) invented incorporation as a protection racket. Pay the proper fees to the government, and they’ll protect you from the government.

Then they say that a corporation isn’t an individual, so constitutional rights shouldn’t apply to you. If you paid the government for protection from the government, then you have no right to object to the government forcing you to do something against your religion.

          • http://wandererswaysite.wordpress.com Wanderer

Mostly correct, though that’s quite a leap you make there at the end. I presume that’s the third-person voice of conclusory bureaucrats talking, because nowhere in actual corporate paperwork is there ever a waiver, express or implied, of any Constitutional rights as a condition of incorporation.

          • Aparition42

Sadly, it’s not as big a leap as it first sounds.

I’m referring specifically to the argument used against Hobby Lobby and other, similar organizations. The supreme court case let Hobby Lobby off the hook, but the language in the decision was kept very limited so as not to imply that the government cannot force larger, not “closely held” corporations to do things against their religious beliefs.

There’s also the cases against businesses refusing service to homosexual weddings. So far there’s no law against an individual refusing to attend a gay wedding, but business owners that refuse service have been convicted of a crime.

I was writing in the voice of the opposition to a degree, but not as hyperbolic as you may think. I’ve heard a lot of people make the argument that corporations don’t have rights, that they can be forced to serve people they don’t want to, or not serve people they do want to (smokers). Ultimately, the attitude stems from a lack of belief in personal property rights as apply to business owners. That’s where I find the connection to socialism.

      • teamfrazzled

Socialism isn’t “free market” except just corporations don’t run their own businesses. It isn’t still a “free market” just because a socialist wants to play word games with the real meaning of both socialism and free market. One cannot exist if the other does. Period. No ifs, ands or buts -they are incompatible. Socialism is government ownership of the means of production and distribution -in the name of the people or “social ownership”. Except in practice there is no such thing as “social ownership” -it really means GOVERNMENT ownership and control. If government owns the means of production then there is NO FREE MARKET. Communism is also socialism and no one bothers to pretend a “free market” exists in communism either. It doesn’t exist in ANY form of socialism.

Socialism is a repeatedly historically proven failed state yet every generation still provides a new bunch of the poorly educated who fall for the same con game that socialists really can get it right if they are given just one more chance. And they want it right here -even as those they hold up as “successes” are going down the tubes. The free market system has lifted more people out of poverty than any system in history and no system is even close to that -but hey, let’s go with the repeatedly proven failed one now? What should really scare anyone with a double digit IQ or higher is the fact Sanders has REPEATEDLY proven he has zero understanding of economics. He does it every time he opens his mouth. When a Presidential candidate doesn’t have even the most basic economic understanding -such as why a loan with no collateral carries a higher interest rate than a loan with collateral -that is a big red flag that person is not qualified to even hold the job under ANY circumstances, much less as one who wants to head up a socialist government.

    • tops116 ✓Quipper

I take him more seriously than Trump… but that’s an incredibly low bar.

      • Jake Wilde

Sadly we have to take the nincompoop seriously because the younger generation all empathize with Bernie and O. Give everything away from the prosperous to the ungrateful. The students have no idea there is not a money tree.

    • Karla1953

I have to say he is our Trump but at least he has been consistent over the years(that is as nice as I can get with this guy though)

      • AMD_Afficionado

I recall at least 2 recent major Sanders flip-flops: guns and immigration.

He was pro-gun (as much as the NRA could pay him to be) and anti-immigration and then the DNC and/or Bernie’s billionaire backer Soros had a stern word with him and he started toeing the modern democrat line on those issues.

        • Karla1953

Well he has been around a lot of years so all things that is not that bad. Then again anyone on that side would not be my choice so I do not follow them that closely. Trump on the other hand changes and then changes again

          • AMD_Afficionado

IMO Bernie Sanders’ flipping is pretty bad as it destroys his entire “not owned by political parties and billionaires” image.

Trump’s position shifts don’t damage his claim to not being owned.

          • Karla1953

Like I said I will never vote for Bernie so matters not to me if he changes or not. Come to think of it though I more than likely would not vote for Trump either. No his shifts just mean that tomorrow he may shift again and that is also troublesome.

  • tops116 ✓Quipper

Y’know, Trump’s rally last night might’ve gotten better ratings if he and Bernie fought in the boxing ring. The site of those two codgers trying to fight would’ve been the funniest thing on TV in years.

    • AMD_Afficionado

Does Iowa allow for boxing matches?

Trump would have needed a sanctioned match as that ring would have been Thunderdome and Trump would have been the man leaving alive.
