Campaigning in New Hampshire, Donald Trump told those who might be depressed due to job loss or other circumstances what they could do to improve their mental health. You’ve probably already guessed what it is:

Here’s video:

Trump’s comments didn’t thrill these people:

https://twitter.com/llcf48/status/693096709144981504

But not everybody had a negative opinion:

  • Doc Farmer✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

Uh, is it LEGAL for him to hand out pamphlets with samples of Paxil inside? I’m asking for a friend…

The FEC and FDA only requires a disclosure that Trump statements are not intended to cure or treat any disease. Ask your physician if Trump is right for you. Side effects include nausea and a newfound love progressive spending.

Earth to Trump: They live in New Hampshire. Their JOB is to be depressed. They are a gloomy people…

    • DeplorableMessMan ✔ JesseMessy

Earth to Trump (part 2): Your followers in NH and the world over just got their relief from depression by ROLFing at this tweet of yours. (Y’know, everybody, ROLFing or “rolling on the laughing floor” as Hillary says ROFL…She’ll have every reason to ROLF herself if this unelectable miscreant gets the nomination.)

      • Doc Farmer✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

I have reason to ROLF every time she comes on the screen. Or is that RALF? I know it tastes awful…

    • tops116 ✓Quipper

That explains the polls where Jeb! is seeing some improvement.

      • Doc Farmer✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ ᵈᵉᵖˡᵒʳᵃᵇˡᵉ

He’s kind of the Tommy Newsome of the 2016 campaign…

      • Giuseppe Franco

Unfortunately, I think Jeb is going to stubbornly stick around until at least Nevada, which is not great for Rubio because he won’t be able to consolidate the so-called “establishment” support.

If Trump beats Cruz in Iowa, Rubio will be the GOP’s only hope for taking down Trump so he needs that consolidated support.

I know a lot of conservatives aren’t crazy about Rubio, but he’s certainly a far better alternative to Trump and unquestionably more competent and conservative.

        • tops116 ✓Quipper

Jeb’s been a pain in the ass for months–actively trying to take out the other candidates in the deluded hopes that he can with a two-man race with Trump. That’d be a disaster; he’s the only one who can’t beat him. His vendetta against Rubio is also off-putting to say the least.

There is some good news, though. Jeb might stick it out until Nevada, but it might be without his donors. Rubio was getting some good buzz in Iowa before the debate (e.g. improving polls, a GOTV team that’s looking better than expected); his debate performance also got some solid marks. He might not do better than third at the caucus, but if he can finish strong, he might be able to outperform in NH on the basis of his “I’m the most electable candidate” rhetoric. If that happens, Jeb’s donors’ll jump ship. Jeb’ll still have the money to keep going if he wants, but it’d be a massive setback.

Personally, I’m still on Team Cruz, but I agree, Rubio is the only other one capable of taking out Trump if it comes to that. (Christie has too much baggage honestly, Kasich is annoying, Jeb is hapless, and everyone else is barely staying above water.) Rubio deserves criticism for past positions, but his record is vastly more conservative and consistent than Trump.

          • Giuseppe Franco

I’ve been reading much of the same buzz that you have regarding Rubio and his campaign.

For months, he was being criticized for not having a good GOTV ground game in Iowa and NH and was instead hoping his media appearances on FNC and other venues was going to be enough.

But his strategy, albeit a risky one, all along has been to not peak early and to step up his efforts and ads after the New Year in order to peak at the right time when the voting starts. He’s also banking on voters coming to their senses regarding Trumpmania and being much more pragmatic about beating Hillary once the voting starts.

His strategy right now seems to be to actually hope Trump wins Iowa, which would be really devastating to the Cruz campaign, and force the establishment donors to panic and jump aboard his campaign to stop Trump.

I don’t know. Now I do agree that Cruz would be the far tougher opponent in a one on one match up for the nomination. But I’d just prefer to destroy the Trump momentum altogether because of the threat his potential nomination poses to the conservative movement and the country in the general and take my chances with a tougher opponent but true conservative in Cruz.

If the nomination comes down to Cruz vs Rubio, true conservatives will win this election cycle no matter who ends up winning that battle.

But I guess that’s why Rubio’s campaign strategists are earning a whole lot more money than an average chump like me on a blog, so we shall see.

As someone who has battled severe depression for nearly a decade, this ticks me off to no end. I have almost lost the battle a few times, and it is a daily battle for me. It’s a slap in the face to those living with it as it can be a living hell.

    • Penny✓ItsSoFluffy! #GoBolts!

But, gee, vote for him and you’ll be living large and carefree. /sarc

Prayers for you that you continue to succeed in your battle. I, too, know it’s not easy.

        • Penny✓ItsSoFluffy! #GoBolts!

          Perhaps. Yeah, more than likely…

      • Skigirl1689

Yeah, well, I have to deal with the govt too much as I was born with a disability, so he’ll just make it worse.

        • Penny✓ItsSoFluffy! #GoBolts!

I’m so sorry. I seriously hope to God he doesn’t.

          • Skigirl1689

I have a good life so please don’t feel sorry :). Yes, it makes life difficult but I got to attend college, get a degree, and make some positive changes on campus. I was talking to a friend last night and she reminded me she still tells people about meeting me and seeing how hard I worked. So in my own way, I have an impact, though most don’t see it. Hopefully it does not get worse, but the entire world seems to be heading in that direction, but God is still sovereign.

          • Penny✓ItsSoFluffy! #GoBolts!

He is sovereign, indeed! So glad to hear you’re doing great. I know you don’t need pity. You sound like a wonderful person. Prayers for more and more blessings to be poured into your lap, my friend. 🙂

          • Skigirl1689

Thank you for your kind words! God bless.

I don’t think I would have made it this far if I had not had God to support me. God bless you.

    • AMD_Afficionado

Do you live in New Hampshire?

      • Skigirl1689

Nope, born and raised in the Midwest. Why do you ask? Just curious :).

        • AMD_Afficionado

I ask because Trump was only referring to New Hampshirites

          • Skigirl1689

So he can only make NH voters happy? Oh that makes so much sense. Jeez, my point is depression is serious and he can’t give anyone happiness. If one thinks he can, well, that is pretty naive. Look how “Hope and Change” worked out.

    • Tessa from Texas

Unfortunately, I also have battled severe depression for the majority of my lifetime. Right now, I am in a pretty good place but the thought of either Trump or the Dim nominee winning the presidency makes me fear another long episode. Those who have experienced the real illness of depression know that it is not something to joke about or use as a political campaign sound bite.

      • Skigirl1689

I completely agree, and I definitely can relate to what you are saying. I wish I was one of those people who can just ignore it all, but I am not. God bless, and I pray we can all weather this year without any new episodes of depression despite the world’s insanity.

        • Tessa from Texas

I have found myself praying that almost constantly over the past few months. Sometimes I feel as if I have entered some kind of alternate universe.

  • Penny✓ItsSoFluffy! #GoBolts!

Last hour Rush said liberals think you’re rude when you criticize them, make a joke about them, or challenge them. Then they go on the attack. Hmmmm….. I wonder who else fits that description…..? Perhaps a certain blowhard who’s promising to be your personal Dr Feelgood?

    • eztalk ♀ENTP – The Visionary

That’s the plan, I’m sure. Why else would a former Democrat and supporter of the Clinton’s in the past enter the race, especially after talking to Bill just a month(?), weeks before entering?

Trump could set anyone of his supporters mothers on fire, and his supporters would say she deserved it because she was establishment.

His ego knows no bounds, and his supporters eat it up. When Trump said he could basically shoot someone on 5th ave and his fans wouldn’t care, normal people would have realized they are being played for fools. Instead they cheered him on and agreed.

    Go figure.

She wouldn’t give him softball questions and he would likely revert right back to calling her a ‘dummy’ as he has done in the past. Twitchy, for what it is worth, aggregates tweets depending on what people are discussing. They aren’t obsessed with Trump, per se, but he is so prolific on twitter and has a tendency to say bizarre things so he ends up here quite often.
