Activists have called on NBA superstar LeBron James to lead a “collective sit-out” until the U.S. Department of Justice intervenes and “imprisons the murderers of Tamir Rice.
James told the media he didn’t “have enough knowledge about” the situation to feel comfortable commenting about it. #BlackLivesMatter activist and New York Daily News columnist Shaun King was aghast:
I don't know why, but I was floored at the astounding ignorance of LeBron on #TamirRice. Dude said he knew NOTHING.https://t.co/HM28WD8Zhj

James won’t speak out about an issue he doesn’t feel he knows enough about and that’s “ignorant”?
So… People speaking on issues they haven't educated themselves about is ideal then? Hmm. #BlackLivesMatter https://t.co/bwNxHSFO2x

But if he were to say something off-base without knowing all the details, people would be mad at that too smh. https://t.co/3rHKF1pZXj
