Former San Francisco mayor and current California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom is backing new gun control measures in that state:
California’s Lt. Governor announced a package of gun control measures Thursday that he hopes to put on the 2016 ballot that he says will help close loopholes in state laws. Newsom made his announcement at the scene of the worst mass shooting in San Francisco that happened more than two decades ago.
Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom and his supporters hope to side step the gun lobby’s influence on lawmakers by asking the voters to approve five new gun control measures. Including one that would prohibit the possession of large capacity magazines, and another that would require background checks for ammunition sales.
Newsom said those claiming the anti-gun Left wants to take guns away from citizens are just trying to scare people:
