Right as Obama did something right by assuming responsibility for drone strikes, this happens. So which is it? https://t.co/tpNsZIUB5w

Earlier today, President Obama said he accepted “full responsibility” for a drone strike that killed an American and an Italian hostage being held in an area near the Afghanistan/Pakistan border.
At today’s presser, Josh Earnest seemed to back away from Obama’s statement:
Josh Earnest says Obama did not specifically sign off on the strike that killed two hostages.

Was the acceptance of responsibility good while it lasted?

Baby steps.
@SabrinaSiddiqui @JammieWF Apparently he only signs off on the successful raids

Isn't this President who was going to personally determine the need for every drone strike? http://t.co/T5bJCfRo2o https://t.co/K0E9tiSJs8

@SabrinaSiddiqui @NoahCRothman If the hostages had been rescued he would still be in press room patting himself on the back. sheesh

@SabrinaSiddiqui @NoahCRothman Not "specifically?" Does that mean he "generally" signed off on the strike that killed 2 American hostages?

Just like Hillary & Benghazi. Its a way to appear responsible and brave without having to be either. @DLoesch

@DLoesch It's delegated down the chain of command. We seriously don't want White House approval of every strike, like Johnson admin/Viet Nam

@jaytrent @DLoesch Except that Obama has a personally-approved target list.
