A year ago, during the annual Groundhog Day ceremony, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio dropped a groundhog named Charlotte. A week later, the groundhog was dead.

Today, remember that Bill DeBlasio killed Charlotte the groundhog. Never forget. http://t.co/kF8ZH8tWP8

The unfortunate incident wasn’t enough to keep PETA from making de Blasio their 2014 Person of the Year.
Officials saw to it that something similar would not happen again this year:
He didn't kill the groundhog this year. Mainly b/c he wasn't allowed to touch it-> RT "De Blasio hands off" http://t.co/Nalorp9vGR

The groundhog was kept safely separated from the mayor.

They got something wrong:
Wait..@BilldeBlasio kills a groundhog, so they put the groundhog in a glass cage? What kind of logic is that?

Seems totally backwards, doesn’t it?
