Yesterday, the House voted 231–187 to hold former IRS official Lois Lerner in contempt of Congress. Fox News host Geraldo Rivera said the vote was proof the House Republicans “don’t know or care” that Lerner has the same Fifth Amendment rights they do.
The House Oversight Committee has found that Lerner waived her Fifth Amendment rights by making a statement before refusing to answer questions, as Rivera was reminded:

@GeraldoRivera 5th amendment right may not apply. You can't give a statement proclaiming your innocence than refuse a cross examination #irs

@GeraldoRivera does she care that she worked for us and abused her position, made statement before 5th amendment declared? not all stupid

@GeraldoRivera.. You are a lawyer, you should know better. She waived her right, then changed her mind when q's got difficult. #Criminal

@GeraldoRivera She violated people's 1st Amendment Rights. The Fifth doesn't help one escape trial. Her plea was like an arraignment plea.
