One of Jay Carney’s new favorite things is claiming that Mitt Romney politicized Benghazi during the 2012 presidential campaign to such a degree that it has led to ongoing investigations of one of the so-called “phony scandals.”
Today, Carney doubled and tripled down after being questioned about the formation of a select House committee to investigate Benghazi that will be headed by Rep. Trey Gowdy:
Carney says "the facts will be the facts" on Benghazi no matter how long the GOP engages "in partisan actions to politicize" the issue.

Carney points back to "scathingly political statement" by GOP pres cand Mitt Romney "within hours" of the Benghazi attack.

Carney says Republican effort to "politicize" Benghazi attack "has continued unabated" since that Romney statement soonafter it.

What would anything said by the Romney campaign the night of 9/11/12 have to do with why members of the Obama administration were still blaming “the video” days later?

I see Carney broke out old reliable. Attack Romney for his (100% accurate) statement re: Benghazi. If only he could find a way to blame W.

Oh, Carney’s done that too!
As for Rep. Gowdy’s upcoming investigation, Carney said the White House is always happy to cooperate with “legitimate” oversight.
Will WH cooperate with select Benghazi committee? Carney: “We have always cooperated with legitimate oversight”

As usual, we’re pretty sure who Carney thinks will decide what’s “legitimate” and what isn’t.
Jay Carney: I don't know if we'll cooperate with the Benghazi select committee http://t.co/9RKhWu5M2v

@allahpundit What CONSTITUTIONAL basis do they have to refuse to cooperate? This will be a legitimate oversight committee of the House.
