Comedian Patton Oswalt found irony in an article at Salon which defended of Stephen Colbert from “PC outrage” after Colbert tweeted a racist “joke” about Asians. Oswalt linked to a Salon article from July of last year titled “Patton Oswalt makes Asian name joke, in response to racist KTVU news report”:
Huh. @Salon defends Colbert against PC outrage. Usually they're the ones whipping it up. The irony is killing me: http://t.co/QHraPuKLKa

Oswalt then heard from a Salon writer, who tried to explain:

@embeedub @Salon There's "different opinions" and then there's "willful ignorance in the service of click bait."

Another Salon writer, Alex Pareene, no stranger in his own right to making racist Asian “jokes,” weighed in this way:
@pattonoswalt @embeedub a guy who's still cashing KING OF QUEENS residuals is lecturing a website for publishing things people will click on
— 'Weird Alex' Pareene (@pareene) March 28, 2014
Please pass the popcorn.
.@pareene @embeedub Wait, is this true? You started your career at fucking GAWKER and you're giving me shit for KING OF QUEENS?!? #wheee
— Patton Oswalt (@pattonoswalt) March 28, 2014
Ouch!
The conversation continued:
.@pareene @embeedub Oh man, seriously. Gawker. GAWKER! I'm gonna have an embolism from laughing. Why'd you even open your mouth?
— Patton Oswalt (@pattonoswalt) March 28, 2014
@pattonoswalt @embeedub yes patton i took paychecks from Gawker to produce work ppl would hopefully enjoy that was sort of my point #wheee
— 'Weird Alex' Pareene (@pareene) March 28, 2014
.@pareene @embeedub No, it wasn't. It was an attack you're trying to spin as, "Why attack widdle ol' me?" Laugh and take the hit. Yeesh.
— Patton Oswalt (@pattonoswalt) March 28, 2014
@pattonoswalt @embeedub anyway i enjoyed your performance in YOUNG ADULT tho I didn't buy you as a rural minnesotan cheers it's been fun
— 'Weird Alex' Pareene (@pareene) March 28, 2014
.@pareene @embeedub "It's been fun" = "uncle" (Since you like using "body slam", "takedown" & "TKO" so much in your writing)

If history is any indication, Oswalt and Salon personnel will probably butt heads again in the near future.
