Early in his first term, President Obama promised “unprecedented” levels of transparency. Now some reporters covering the White House are starting to doubt that promise.
NBC News reporter Kasie Hunt had previously referred to an op-ed in the New York Times written by an Associated Press photojournalist titled “Obama’s Orwellian Image Control.”
AP: "Information-savvy citizens, too, would be wise to treat those handout photos for what they are: propaganda." http://t.co/W1ycOb2ncc

Where has the “transparency” gone?
This fight is based on Americans' right to have a non-filtered understanding of how their democracy is governed. Not about bottom lines.

Another NBC reporter, Kelly O’Donnell, complained of the lack of “transparency” in the Obama administration as well:
WH access fight. A govt/WH employee taking photos is not same as independent news orgs covering presidential events.

WH access battle over covering official events of presidency is a serious issue. Bigger than 140 characters. NOT about "selfies" and egos

Many in the mainstream media are having similar awakenings, although it took way too long.
