Rep. Ilhan Omar has made it clear that she believes dismantling the nation’s criminal justice system doesn’t go far enough. These comments were spotted and shared by the Daily Caller:
Rep. Ilhan Omar calls for "dismantling" of the U.S. "economy and political systems," which she calls a "system of oppression." pic.twitter.com/AP072GsmzW

Rep. Omar got plenty of blowback for those remarks, but luckily being a Democrat means having a separate branch of the DNC called the “mainstream media” to help with spin. In this case, that person in Washington Post political reporter Aaron Blake:
Many conservatives allege Ilhan Omar called for "dismantling" the U.S. economy & political system.
But she didn't actually say that. They rearranged her words. And she explicitly cited dismantling "systems of oppression" **within** gov't systems.https://t.co/ZAwFSpA8aU

Well gee, in that case, maybe some follow-up questions would be in order, if the media cared to go there:
Ask her specifics.
She had literally said this. She in fact openly advocates for it. https://t.co/oVkrNj2iYh

It isn’t clear if Rep. Omar also wants to dismantle the system that allowed her campaign to reportedly pay her husband’s consulting firm $878,000 over the last two years.
I'm sure you intrepid lefties will ask which systems she means so she can clarify, and tell us what we already know.

You know, she isn't even shy about it. She's a member of the Democratic Socialists of America. She's not hiding.
With that in mind: What is the goal of running interference for her? https://t.co/9LPGzpzfPn

That spin assist is hardly surprising coming from the “‘defund the police’ doesn’t really mean ‘defund the police'” media explainers.
