A school in the United Kingdom called the Littleton Green Community School angered parents after sending a note home reminding them that their children would be labeled as racist if they failed to attend a workshop on Islam:
Whoa! RT @mojitos65: I'm genuinely puzzled as to why this head-mistress thought such a threat was necessary? pic.twitter.com/F0YLsMllVI

Can you read this without getting crazily angry?

Point of order for the “educators”:
Common purpose school teachers should realise Islam isn’t a race & therefore declining to learn about it can’t be classed as racist

@minniesyoohoo What "race" precisely are muslims?

Was the school just following education guidelines?

Perhaps the school wasn’t mandated to include the threat, because they subsequently backpedaled. Via the UK Telegraph:
But after parents contacted the school they were then forced to make an embarrassing U-turn and withdraw the threat after council chiefs intervened.
A letter from the head to parents apologised for “inaccuracies” in the previous correspondence. In the letter Mrs Small asked parents to “on reflection disregard a section from the earlier letter”.
It was a hugely contradictory way to try and teach kids a lesson:
