As we reported earlier, POLITICO told us that lawyers at the Justice Department are "terrified," fearing retribution from President Donald Trump. Retribution for what? What have they ever done? And National Security Attorney Mark Zaid says he's advising some of his clients to leave the country before Inauguration Day. That's the best you can do as their lawyer — advise them to leave the country?
NBC News' Ken Dilanian is also reporting that Trump "critics" are worried that they'll be targeted for retribution. Among them are Special Counsel Jack Smith and New York Attorney General Letitia James, whom Trump's lawyer Mike David dared to continue with the lawfare, telling her, "We're not messing around this time and we will put your fat ass in prison for conspiracy against rights."
Dilanian is worried that such prosecutions would violate five years of norms, and the Justice Department is supposed to be independent of the executive branch. Since when?
NBC's @KenDilanianNBC: If the Trump Admin prosecutes NY AG @TishJames or Jack Smith, "that would violate five decades of norms post-Watergate, which said that the DoJ should be independent from the president" pic.twitter.com/YkarYdSiqW

Am I doing this right?
Trying to prosecute former presidents violated about 23 decades of norms, but I didn't see the media giving a shit about that.

We thought the Biden administration had restored the norms.
They upended five decades of norms by going after him.

It's beyond obvious that @KenDilanianNBC received a crack pipe from the Biden Administration and he is currently using it.

"Muh norms" went out the second Biden sicked the DOJ on Trump.

Not going to be even a little sorry when Trump goes after the Lawfare crowd.
Sorry Ken, Fat Tish and your fascist party kicked down the "norms" door and lit it on fire.

MAGA is coming through that open doorway now.
Buckle up.
Oh, y’all wanna talk about norms now.
— Dan Risler (@DanRisler) November 11, 2024
Somebody tell lazy Ken that "norms" don't supersede our laws and Constitution.
— FugitiveMama (@fugitivemama) November 11, 2024
If only Biden/Garland knew this.
— Michael (@Socratic_End) November 11, 2024
Yes, the Garland DOJ certainly has been best known for adhering to norms

Jack Smith and Tish James violated 5 decades of norms. Take it to court, let a jury sort it out.

My irony meter just exploded at light speed.
— Buttermaker (@BiffGizmo) November 11, 2024
Just memory-holing Eric Holder's statement that he was Obama's "wing man".
— Christian Schuon (@ChristianSchuon) November 11, 2024
Oh? We're talking "norms" now?
— Political Blasphememes (@PBlasphememes) November 11, 2024
Yes, now we're talking about norms.
