Sens. Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz destroy Biden judicial nominee over her connection to the SPLC

If you ever see the names Josh Hawley and Ted Cruz in a headline, you know there are going to be fireworks. The two questioned President Joe Biden’s latest judicial nominee, Nancy Abudu, about her connection to the “scam organization” known as the Southern Poverty Law Center. As we reported back in 2018, the SPLC was facing multiple lawsuits and had agreed to pay $3.375 million for adding Maajid Nawaz to its “Field Guide to Anti-Muslim Extremists.” The following year, the SPLC fired its co-founder, Morris Dees declined to explain why; just over a week later, the SPLC, which had recently reported more than a half-billion in assets, announced that president Richard Cohen would be stepping down. Pretty shady.

Sen. Josh Hawley had done his research and pulled up a number of quotes about the SPLC:

And here’s Sen. Ted Cruz tagging in:

Remember way back in 2012, when Floyd Corkins attempted a mass shooting at the Family Research Council headquarters in Washington, D.C.? Corkins acknowledged in a hearing that he had visited the SPLC’s website, which identified the FRC to him as “an anti-gay organization.”

As we say all the time about the Democrats: All they have to do is not be crazy, but they just can’t help themselves.
