First things first: We don’t think Whoopi Goldberg is anti-Semitic — she’s just stupid. It was ignorance and not hate that led her to make the statement she did about the Holocaust. Maybe during her suspension, she’ll tour the Holocaust Museum, which seems to be the way to prove you’re serious about educating yourself.
Comedian and former Sen. Al Franken, speaking to CNN’s Alisyn Camerota — who slammed Fox News for its “toxic culture” — defended Goldberg from charges of anti-Semitism, citing the fact that she chose the name Goldberg as a stage name. How much more proof do you need?

Could it be… cultural appropriation?
— Tyler Alex (@Tyler_Alex90) February 2, 2022
Cultural appropriation is a form of racism… or so I've been told.

The choice of Goldberg is proof that she’s not anti-Semitic in the same way that Whoopi is proof that she likes fart cushions.

Yes and blackface is really just paying homage to black culture.

We’re old enough to remember when her old boyfriend Ted Danson wore blackface — while they were still together.
If adopting the name "Goldberg" makes you not antisemitic then adopting the stage name "Shecky Shecklestein" makes you really REALLY not antisemitic

My new name is Jewy Goldstein. Totally honoring to the Jews.

She chose it because she was told it would get her more attention.

Hahaha it wasn't an homage, her mom told her to change it because "Jews run Hollywood" and it would get her further.
— ((DarkTechObserver)) (@DarkTechMonitor) February 2, 2022
She thought a Jewish last name would get her further in the entertainment industry.
Three guesses as to what people with this belief typically think of Jews.

No, she chose it to prove she wasn’t anti-Semitic.
That’s not why she choose it Al.

That's the funniest thing Al's said in 40 years.
