Wow — of all professions, we really thought academia would be supportive of President Trump, but the Washington Post is reporting the very important news that more than 700 scholars have penned a letter urging the House to impeach Trump. And we’d thought we’d heard enough from constitutional scholars after that law professor-palooza debacle.

For some reason, this reminds of the mental health professionals who held a tiny march in 2017 to demand Trump’s removal from office — probably because it was just as meaningful as a letter signed by 700 scholars:

For what it’s worth, 63 million voters decided they wanted Trump in the Oval Office, and the vast majority of those voters want to keep him there. But let’s give the scholars their due.
Scholars…hahahahaha

How many of those scholars were writing this hoping the Democrats would go full Democrat on this, rather than take a step back and think things through?

Which Federalist Paper describes the random selection of Scholars to determine impeachment

…oh now I'm going to rethink my position. Because, you know, they're scholars and all. pic.twitter.com/LQks1CKmJH

Alternate Headline: 99% of scholars do not participate in a letter urging House to impeach Trump.
— Ed Jackson (@Roderickoooo) December 17, 2019
Scholars of what anyway?
Most academia these days is pretty useless and stuck in failed political ideologies, which, despite their alleged intelligence, they refuse to see as failed, even though millions of dead prove otherwise.

I’m pretty certain I’m not interested in what ever Bolshevik they’d prefer take his place.

700 voters. No more. No less.
— 无名 (@Baug8i) December 17, 2019
700 people?! Wow that's enough to fill a couple of Pizza Huts to maximum capacity according to the fire marshal!
— Apollo (@hilegunslinger) December 17, 2019
They forgot the “quotes” around “scholars”. Kinda like the ones they leave off “97% of climate ’scientists’” and “sustainable energy” and “Democrats who give a damn about the Constitution”.
— Lapsed Unitarian (@thedongo) December 17, 2019
But more importantly… are they also “austere religious scholars?”
— Fig (@SyeFigueroa) December 17, 2019
After the Washington Post called Abu-Bakr-Al-Baghdad an “Austere Religious Scholar”, forgive me if I don’t trust their definition of a scholar.

I’ll get a letter from 700 construction workers saying he shouldn’t. So there.

Thanks for the in kind donations to the re-election campaign. Make sure all of you “scholars” report the contributions.

Bwahahaha. That and $2.75 gets you on the subway. Worthless.

Carries no weight. Unlike your paper which does support the weight of a nice size lake fish.
— The Hef (@GatewayHef) December 17, 2019
I was beginning to think this impeachment was a circus, but now that we have “the scholars” involved, that changes everything!!!
— Preaus (@Preaus) December 17, 2019
They also write letters that the Earth is going to end in 12 years because of climate change and they also argue that there are more than two genders among other dumb utterances

I am a scholar. Where do I send my letter to put a halt to this farce?
