As Twitchy reported earlier, former special counsel Robert Mueller called an 11 a.m. press conference Wednesday to let us all know that he had no intention to indulge House Democrats and their demand that he testify; “The report is my testimony,” he said.
Mueller, for so long almost a folk hero to Democrats, has managed to do what only James Comey managed to do before him — leave both Democrats and Republicans angry with him. He didn’t hand Democrats any evidence of collusion with Russia, but he did dangle a little bait for them, saying, “If we had had confidence that the president had clearly not committed a crime we would have said so.” So guilty until proven innocent?
Katie Pavlich spoke for a lot of us Wednesday:
“The Special Counsel’s report & his statement today made clear that the office concluded it would not reach a determination – one way or the other – about whether the President committed a crime.”
Then what was the point if Mueller was never going to make a determination anyway?
— Katie Pavlich (@KatiePavlich) May 29, 2019
Exactly my question. WTH?
— Lisa Pinneo (@lpinneo) May 29, 2019
Exactly! Have wondered that all day long and now it is a waste of tax payer money
— Mark DeMellier (@MarkDeMellier) May 29, 2019
Just to waste taxpayers money.

— #GoBolts (@boltsfan850) May 29, 2019
He said he's sticking with his story and it will be a waste of time to call him before congress because he will just refer to his 400 pages. He is finished with the whole thing and is going home. The dems are busy trying to believe he said something worth saying…he did not.
— Ike Polk (@onlypolk) May 29, 2019
poison in the process.
That will take down Trump absent of evidence and facts.
It is what the Dems have been doing for 3 years.— Tim McBride (@tmcb76) May 29, 2019
Far from a diehard trump supporter but this is accurate. Now let’s waste some more time and money @RepJerryNadler Time to move on.
— M.V. (@vertanno) May 29, 2019
Only to effect the midterm elections which it did
— Lorne Farovitch (@lornefaro) May 29, 2019
To do the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry for them.
— Nick M (@NickAtNight128) May 29, 2019
It was always about impeachment.
— Chaucer Ellison (@Chaucerisms) May 29, 2019
That fool showed today that he’s as biased as Comey was
— Walter Kovacs (@Whoovy) May 29, 2019
Yep.
“I won’t testify. I quit. I’m leaving public service. Everything you need to know is in my awesome report. Sorry if my report and my speech today reflects of a badly written Three Stooges script. Deal with it people. Peace out. NO Questions.”— Don Paquette (@MrDPAQ) May 29, 2019
He dosen't like the outcome and needed to throw some fuel on the fire, Politically Motivated, so Obvious
— Reelthinker (@Reelthinker) May 30, 2019
Only to leave a doubt in some people’s minds. I truly believe it was one big scam by Dems and @POTUS hating RINO @GOP . Mueller didn’t find sufficient evidence but had to be a complete _ackass so left a carrot dangling for those with TDS to chase.
— Leesa FL (@leesa_fl) May 30, 2019
In other words, we spent $25,000,000 in taxpayer dollars to arrive at the exact same place we started ?
— Ivan (@CrazyIvan69) May 29, 2019
John Podhoretz published a great piece in The New York Post slamming Mueller’s pointless press conference (and investigation):
"his peculiar locutions and soothsayer ambiguity represent a terrible failure of his mission as a public servant in this case.
He hasn’t clarified. He has muddied." https://t.co/LcCWaL8Hd1 via @nypost
— Mollie (@MZHemingway) May 29, 2019
On purpose.
— Catherine Siena (@1catherinesiena) May 29, 2019
Muddied purposely
— Hidden In Plain Sight (@HiddenInPlainS5) May 29, 2019
Very true. Carefully intended.
— Patrick O. Henry (@PatrickOHenryTX) May 29, 2019
He did what he set out to do.
— Billy Purcell (@Billy_Purcell) May 29, 2019
It's what he wants.
— Bill Turner (@BillTurner6684) May 29, 2019
I think he wants the chaos to continue. If Mueller was not biased, he would have answered questions.
— Patricia Favaloro (@delaware2709) May 29, 2019
He’s right there with Comey.
— lois glenn (@lois7210) May 29, 2019
He came out and threw innuendos and said no questions. He had to stir it up for his buddy Comey.
— Bunny Piper (@bunnypiper) May 29, 2019
It was his Comey moment! What a mess we now have!
— Brent Nichols (@Brent_Nichols) May 29, 2019
That press conference was a great reminder that our elites are really, really unimpressive.
— Brian (@applecharlie5) May 29, 2019
Mueller is like all lawyers.. they can’t find the words to say they failed!
— My POV (@ThePixarChild) May 29, 2019
Peculiar locutions indeed. This was a prosecutor failing to find sufficient evidence to charge @POTUS with any crime. In Bob Mueller’s world, you are apparently “guilty until proven innocent,” a construct that appears to be rather transparently a sop to his buddy Jim Comey.
— Mike Fischer (@7OOP_USA) May 29, 2019
You mean he continued his Witch Hunt?
— @TNValues (@TNValues1) May 29, 2019
So if I understand this correctly #MuellerStatement is that he could not bring charges had he found evidence of a crime? So how does he justify spending 30 million of our tax dollars if he knew it was pointless?
— sturkdawg (@sturkdawg) May 29, 2019
Apparently, his purpose was to stir-up & agitate the Slime in the Swamp (including the Media) without really saying anything new, different or profound regarding "No Collusion & No Obstruction".
— Bob Laughlin (@Bob_Laughlin) May 29, 2019
Rather, he made it crystal clear that He is clearly compromised and participating in keeping the deceptive narrative going.
— Deb Santagata (@taylorsant) May 29, 2019
He’s got TDS. He was hoping to lead the firing squad, all he found were a bunch of blanks.
— USA007 (@USA0077) May 29, 2019
Total FAILURE as a man.
— Don Kovacs (@Goldenkozy) May 29, 2019
Mr Integrity has proven he has none…
— Charles T Dennis (@ctd1500a) May 29, 2019
Wellll, congratulations, John – you finally said something I can agree with. Now let's see what comes up after the IG report, the Durham report, and the document declassification. But I won't hold my breath…
— Can't code – I'm already a bot (@Dannyboy7293) May 29, 2019
Kind of a fitting epithet on the whole Mueller investigation. Putting a confusing spin on a terrible waste of taxpayer time and money.
— JAM (@JArthurMerritt) May 29, 2019
He didn’t have evidence so he delivered his best slander and rode off into the sunset a richer man ?♂️ … this whole saga has been a disgrace and revealed just how corrupt the D.C. establishment is. Accountability is needed to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
— Aaron Fenstemaker (@AaronFenstemak1) May 29, 2019
Mueller is a broken man. He fumbled through a half-hearted attempt to reclaim a former glory, now a vestige of an ill-gotten, poisonous fruit. I pray he was the last of his kind.
— Neogene wanderer (@kurt_hurt) May 29, 2019
This was his I’m leaving office party. Good riddance
— Nancy Chase (@toccoacamp) May 29, 2019
Mueller's mission was to protect the DS and damage Trump. He failed in both. Now he just wants to disappear. I'm not sure his retirement will be as peaceful as he hopes.
— Q4U (@FRLarson) May 29, 2019
I want a refund.
— Daniel (@AboutDmnTime) May 29, 2019
Wasn’t this guy tasked with finding out if the Trump campaign had colluded with Russia? His stupid report could have been one page long and put the whole thing to rest.
We’ll give Dennis Miller the final word:
In essence what Mueller said today is that Democrats haven't handled Hillary's loss as well as they could have. #DennisMillerOption
