On the same day hundreds of newspapers coordinated by The Boston Globe all published editorials pushing back on President Trump’s anti-press rhetoric, the GOP-led Senate also unanimously passed a resolution saying the press “is not the enemy of the people” and plays a “vital and indispensable” role.
The Senate just passed a resolution affirming that "the press is not the enemy of the people" and condemning attacks against the fourth estate. "Efforts to systematically undermine the credibility of the press" are "an attack on our democratic institutions." Unanimous consent.

The Senate passed a resolution with unanimous consent that "affirms that the press is not the enemy of the people," "reaffirms the vital and indispensable role that the free press serves" and "condemns the attacks on the institution of the free press."https://t.co/6FdiNMx3eE

2018: When the U.S. Senate feels it’s necessary to pass a resolution reaffirming that the press is not, in fact, the enemy of the people. pic.twitter.com/Eq52SFAq89

…hey, these guys need consulting jobs at cable networks one day…
— BannedButNotForgotten (@BannedButNotFor) August 16, 2018
Hmm I wonder who needs jobs consulting at MSM stations when they get voted out of office? https://t.co/cAqo6DmQtF

So does this mean there is officially no such thing as "fake news?
— Dennis D. Jackson (@dennisdjackson) August 16, 2018
Don't you think maybe the people out in the boonies might be allowed to vote with their feelings? Like by canceling subscriptions? Y'all a bunch of elitist hacks. The Senate too. https://t.co/rrnE4dUUql
— Daxton Brown (@daxtonbrown) August 16, 2018
Everyone, the Senate is full of our moral betters. https://t.co/0tdddTpkea
— Kurt Schlichter (@KurtSchlichter) August 16, 2018
Now do fake news….. since that's where the president's focus has been.
It's never been about the media……… it's been about the lying false narrative driving ideological media abusing their privilege.
— Greg Kotseos (@GregKotseos) August 16, 2018
The press isn't, the fake news media is. Freedom of the press does not protect a class of people, it protects the right of ANYONE to print, distribute, video, blog, etc.. A j school sheepskin or a piece of plastic around your neck makes you no more 'the press' than me.
— paul dobbie ❌ (@pauldobbie2) August 16, 2018
All this tells me is our senate is just as lacking in substance and voracity as the media. Nice try though.
— PS Fina (@PattiSerafine) August 16, 2018
The press is free last I checked. In fact they are all guns a blazing in anti trump. Free Press doesn’t mean they can’t be held accountable either.
— Bryan Kretzmeier (@bkretzmeier) August 16, 2018
Please provide me an example of the President claiming the free press was the enemy of the people.
— Glowbeau Home-Oh (@LewisKirsch) August 16, 2018
Now do the 2nd Amendment!
— dedrekon (@dedrekon) August 16, 2018
Funny, I've never seen one of these circle jerk resolutions about the Second Amendment. https://t.co/zrUnvSKtti

You won’t. That might actually have political consequences.
