As Twitchy reported, Mother Jones’ Ari Berman was dragged on social media Tuesday afternoon after explaining how the gun lobby “dominates” U.S. politics:
Want to know how gun lobby dominates US politics?
In Texas a gun permit is a valid voter ID but a student ID is not pic.twitter.com/TsVZyNoP9g
— Ari Berman (@AriBerman) March 6, 2018
After an entire day’s worth of people explaining to Berman that a gun permit is a state-issued form of ID and a student ID is not, Berman decided to shift the subject quite a bit.
For all the NRA apologists complaining about this tweet: name one example of someone using college ID to impersonate another voter versus 35,000 gun deaths in US every year https://t.co/Je03JFEcVz

Ah, so if you pointed out that a student ID isn’t state-issued, you’re an NRA apologist and likely unconcerned about gun deaths. Got it.
This has nothing to do with the NRA. The gun permit is allowed for voting because it's provided by the gov. A student ID card can be laminated in 2 minutes by a student employee. Now you're doubling down by comparing voting to….shootings? Stop digging. pic.twitter.com/sFjEMg9Y4t

You're not allowed to use a college ID to vote. Let's start from the beginning. https://t.co/NehNfQyR3z

Hi galactic dingbat. A college ID isn't even valid to purchase alcohol. Try harder. https://t.co/WHXnFZgND9

If you shoot someone, you become a felon and ineligible to vote.
Nobody impersonates using a student ID to vote because those are not acceptable ID to vote, Einstein.
— Dead Agent (@Recursion_Agent) March 7, 2018
Both are rights under the U.S. Constitution and voting has eligibility requirements.
So you are either arguing for stricter voter ID rules or liberal regulation in purchasing a firearm. Choose.
37,000 people die in car accidents each year. Are you a DMV apologist? https://t.co/OZXo1cnvJd
— Chad Felix Greene (@chadfelixg) March 7, 2018
Roughly 20,000 of that 35,000 were suicides. Maybe stop using bad stats to dramatize your point. It may also help, to be fair, if you mentioned the 100,000+ times per year that people use guns for self defense. https://t.co/bQWJropywI
