Actress Rose McGowan has a new book to promote, but she’s reportedly canceled all public appearances after a run-in with a transgender heckler at a New York City Barnes & Noble store Wednesday night.
I am canceling upcoming public appearances because I have given enough. I have given beauty, in return I was VERBALLY ASSAULTED for two full minutes @BNBuzz by an actor paid to verbally assault a woman who has been terrorized by your system. And no ONE in that room did anything

Of course, the whole incident was caught on video:

McGowan got plenty of criticism on Twitter for being the “epitome” of white cisgender feminism.
Get this: the feminist movement is intended to be inclusive to all. Feminism = equality. Not cis female supremacy. This is a disgusting display of hate. https://t.co/YSMQ1NSqso

This is disgusting for #RoseMcGowan to do this to another woman. She should have allowed her to speak and have a dialogue between the two. Silencing women is not going to solve anything. This perfectly highlights everything wrong with cis female white feminism. https://t.co/oNTcHsWYI3

Rose McGowan and her supporters are the epitome of exclusive white cis feminism. She is cancelled. I am truly appalled. https://t.co/cG74VINj3X

.@rosemcgowan you need to take some responsibility for the hypocritical white feminism you displayed here. dismissing trans women's problems because cis white women have problems too is not advocacy – it's gaslighting and it's abusive. https://t.co/UwyOnNLqKp

the end meltdown is literally the embodiment of white feminism…this is so ugly. https://t.co/FnoLgRfLZ5

"I'm not from your planet" "because I have a fucking vagina" incredibly harmful TERF right here. Fucking repulsive, this outburst. https://t.co/EfIgaZ1mFN
— Anya Kali (@cryoslime) February 3, 2018
We might be mistaken, but we think TERF stands for “trans-exclusionary radical feminism.”
Im sorry, but this called a HATE CRIME not a melt down. https://t.co/jQdBKJ4URf

Note the immediate flip to seething, uncontrolled rage when challenged about her transphobic comments.

White women will never do anything for woc, trans women, and fems bc they feel they will always be superior. White women dont care. White women care about pink pussies and "feminist" patches. White women care about image https://t.co/HZIZbIzaJh
— Jester babie™ (@Whitepplkill) February 2, 2018
This is gross. How can she think she's being progressive when she just spoke over a trans woman. If your feminism doesn't include trans women then your feminism is ugly and I don't want it. Listen to your trans sisters. They hurt more than you do. Use your privelage to help them https://t.co/07EiWaZauP
— speencer (@draggedyanne) February 2, 2018
ROSE IF YOUR FEMINISM INVOLVES YELLING "SIT DOWN" WHILE A TRANS WOMAN VOICES HER COMPLETELY VALID CRITICISM OF THE FACT THAT YOU'RE TRANSMISOGYNISTIC IT'S NOT FUCKIN FEMINISM! BYE https://t.co/ZB7soa6G57
— tones (@ironmantrilogy) February 2, 2018
what kills me is the applause at the end, and Rose accepting it as her due. This is not the feminism I know and put my own writing and marching behind. Modern feminism listens to women of color and trans women. It's time to apologize. https://t.co/NaO1XXSP5n

For the record, the Women’s March seems to agree that McGowan was being transphobic.
Please read this interview with the activist who engaged with Rose McGowan last night. Transphobia and denying trans women’s identities is never okay. The pain we feel does not excuse the pain we cause others. https://t.co/9rtdmzngUa

Proves this movement isn’t about helping women at all. https://t.co/JZGZuQ74IZ

I agree with Rose.
You do not gain sympathy by shouting down people, flinging bigoted accusations, exaggerating victimhood and statistics and demanding you are above questioning.Identity politics destroys us all.
Rose is right.#NoLabels https://t.co/QcD079WSfU

Everyone in this video seems totally well-adjusted and reasonable. It's a mystery as to why we have a culture war. https://t.co/zIaI20xQaT
