A tweet by MSNBC’s Chris Hayes about Democrats finally reckoning with the sexual assault charges against Bill Clinton started an avalanche of pieces on revisiting Clinton and his accusers in the wake of allegations against Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore. Vox, The New York Times, The Atlantic, Slate, and other outlets all have run pieces this week on Clinton.
On Friday afternoon, the Washington Post offered its own take, following Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s divisive comment that Bill Clinton’s resignation over the Monica Lewinsky affair would have been “appropriate.”
Abuse allegations have revived scrutiny of Bill Clinton — and divided Democrats https://t.co/T3SwvkuiDP
— Washington Post (@washingtonpost) November 18, 2017
Check out the backlash the Post received over just that headline. While some in politics and the media might be having second thoughts about Bill Clinton, plenty are convinced that ground has been covered.
really thats the headline you're going with?

The press compulsively wants the Dems to be divided. Because they can't think beyond "both sides." Karen Tumulty is so old and tired she needs to retire. https://t.co/6YRg28Guck
— RevolutionNow?? (@Chernynkaya) November 18, 2017
STOP! Bill had his time – he's no longer in the WH. Let's focus on who's there now and his actions. Stop this mess #Wapo https://t.co/eOZCRBnGfM
— Zoe Belle (@gisellezlove) November 18, 2017
Democrats have long since paid for Clinton's transgressions. They need to focus on the Pervert in Chief, Roy Moore and getting back the Senate and House, and stop infighting.
— Donald Stephens (@Catfinger77) November 18, 2017
They're not infighting. This is bullshit I would expect from Fox News and NOT the Washington Post
— Nicole (@GirlyGirl694) November 18, 2017
Maybe not infighting but Gillibrand should have kept her mouth shut. They need to realize that the only way to get back Congress is to unify and try to have a coherent positive message.
— Donald Stephens (@Catfinger77) November 18, 2017
The Bots are at it again and nice try but we are united.
— Hillary Democrat (@Oldgringo12) November 18, 2017
Says “Hillary Democrat,” completely ignoring all of the Bernie Sanders supporters out there still feeling burned by the DNC’s kneecapping of their candidate.
Stop with the "dividing Democrats" nonsense. We're not divided. We're wholly and collectively shunning sexual violence and misconduct. Stop with this bullshit narrative already.
— Casey Brundlefly (@_Seedsy_) November 18, 2017
Divided…not sure you’re correct there
— Chris O'Brian (@chriso140) November 18, 2017
Please! Bill didn't prey on teenagers. It was consensual. You always try to change the narrative. Extra marital affair is not quite the same as molesting a teenager.
— Traumabay (@pergolaman) November 18, 2017
Aren’t women supposed to be heard and believed? Juanita Broaddrick hasn’t alleged a consensual extramarital affair with Bill Clinton, has she?
Can we focus on the relevant present PLEASE!
— S.B. (@SLPMedicare4All) November 18, 2017
That is soooo yesterday. Why even bring it up
— Laurie (@luckykash777) November 18, 2017
Because Democrats look like flaming hypocrites going after Roy Moore after either ignoring or flat out attempting to destroy Bill Clinton’s accusers.
There are too many current issues to be reviving Bill's past problems. Dead issue.

Remind US —- Hitler abused people, too. Let’s re-examine that abuse. Where’s the report, WP ?
— john adams (@ingram1ja) November 18, 2017
Bonus points for managing to work Adolf Hitler into the thread.
We all moved on from it. If only the republicans could.
— Lisa Rago (@LisaRago1) November 18, 2017
Bill Clinton is ancient history, of far more interest are people in Office and running for Office. Let’s focus on which men are the real problem.
— julie kreutzer (@jlkreutzer) November 18, 2017
Bill Clinton isn't an issue.
Period.
— Kallen Deshara (@MarkIKendrick) November 18, 2017
Not much point in talking about Bill Clinton now.
— Lorne Clarke (@Lorne1868) November 18, 2017
Oh yeah… Americans are really hankering to rehash this old topic. ?
— Eric Sitton (@eric_sitton) November 18, 2017
#but Bill Clinton hasn’t been president for a couple of decades now. Are we digging up his grave or something?
— TheAverageChuck (@average_chuck) November 18, 2017
I did not know Bill was running for anything ?
— tanyia (@tanyia) November 18, 2017
Dust off your Beverly Hills 90210 VHS tapes and Backstreet Boys CDs everyone. It's 1998 all over again.
— James Wood (@JimEWood) November 18, 2017
Bill paid his debt to America balanced the budget. So he got caught having sex with a fat girl. The world knows it it was an embarrassment. But it was concentual. Big difference from Roy and Donny Combover.
— David Ackerman (@DavidAckerman53) November 18, 2017
So woke: “So he got caught having sex with a fat girl.”
