Shadow president Hillary Clinton kicked off her response to the crisis in Puerto Rico Sept. 24 with an “If I were president…” tweet:
President Trump, Sec. Mattis, and DOD should send the Navy, including the USNS Comfort, to Puerto Rico now. These are American citizens. https://t.co/J2FVg4II0n
— Hillary Clinton (@HillaryClinton) September 24, 2017
That tweet has racked up more than 300,000 likes since, and it has resonated deeply, having given The Resistance a taste of what things would be like were President Clinton running the show. Suddenly, every anti-Trumper on social media was asking, “Why hasn’t Trump sent the USNS Comfort yet?” “When is Trump going to send it?”
Suddenly, those who’d never heard of the Comfort (that is, everybody) were wondering why it hadn’t been readied and dispatched to arrive at port the moment the hurricane passed over.
Calm down, everyone … the hospital ship arrived in Puerto Rico Tuesday, brining with it hospital beds and operating rooms.

Good news, right? Now San Juan’s mayor can take off her “HELP US, WE ARE DYING” shirt and change into something else. Or not.
Finally! https://t.co/sjgywrZGCa

#Maria hit on Sept. 20. Its route was predicted days in advance.
That #Comfort is just arriving 13 days later is heinous. https://t.co/gXJr1UjWd2

What a coincidence. Did the ship just happen to arrive on the same day as the president? Or was it held back until he arrived? https://t.co/6hh2sD81Ef
